The kids are on Christmas vacation this week and next which means plenty of time to do things like get "In The Lab with FANTASTIC 4". On the road with Rio 2 #Rio2Insiders

These are the faces of two happy kids thanks to our Rio 2 road trip package. There was no way they were going to fall asleep watching Rio 2 on my daughter's iPad. They were both in the back seat laughing and having such a good time they didn't even ask the age old question "Are we there yet?". And that couldn't have made this momma happier, especially on this car ride. Unfortunately for me the ride wasn't quite as entertaining. I came down with a bad case of allergies right before we left and couldn't stop sneezing and blowing my nose the entire time. But thankfully there was a little bit of saving grace in the kids Rio backpacks. I ended up using both of their packs of tissues..oops!

Along with the goodies shown in the photo above I also added a few healthy treats right before we left as well as a bottle of water and a flavor packet. It was everything the kids needed to keep themselves busy and happy while mommy sat in the front seat trying to sleep in between sneezes and sniffles. The best part about having Rio 2 on digital HD through iTunes is now I can watch the movie from the comfort of my chair at home anytime that I want.

Some of my favorite road trip tips:
• Wear comfortable clothes - especially for long trips.
• Always carry an extra blanket (or two) in the car in both the summer and winter. You never know if you'll get froze out by the driver.
• Pack a separate bag/cooler with some snacks and drinks you can reach from the front of the vehicle.
• Bring along movies and other activities to keep kids busy, it makes the time seem to go by faster when they are entertained and not focusing on how long is left to go.

A 2013 remake of the 1947 film of the same name, it stars Ben Stiller as the titular character, along with Kristen Wiig, Sean Penn, and Adam Scott.

4. Peter Pan

The classic story of the boy who never grows up, fairy dust, flying, and evil pirates is one that has been made and remade in film various times. The 2003 remake of Peter Pan is a live-action version filled with playful children, fantasy, and romance that speaks to the kid in all of us.

I was so excited when I heard about this movie and couldn't wait to get it in hand so I could watch it myself. I just received this DVD in the mail today and I can't wait to sit down this weekend and watch it with my daughter. I grew up watching Strawberry Shortcake cartoons so I love watching the new series with her. I'm sure it will be full of fun and laughs just like all the other great episodes we've watched. Still Mine on Blu-ray and DVD

If you ask me this has to be one of those feel good movies that you want to watch over and over again. I'm just a sucker for movies about true love and kindness though. I like how the movie follows along in actual timeline events, it doesn't jump around from past to future and present like some movies do. It shows the story as it unfolds in an original and realistic format. There just aren't enough feel good movies around anymore that tell about how life really should be. My favorite part of the movie is how Craig never gives up on what he's determined to do for his wife.

My take:
One of my favorite things about this movie is that it's appropriate for all ages. That's actually one of the first things I look for now days when searching for a movie to watch as a family. The main storyline of the movie focuses on a girl named Dakota. She faces many struggles and challenges as she learns she doesn't have quite what it takes to become a trick rider like her sister and grandfather. And when the truth comes out that she is adopted she goes through even more emotions. And to top it off after she searches for and finds her biological mother she comes to realize it was all for a good reason that she was put up for adoption. I don't want to go into all the details because I think seeing them unfold on screen gives it a much more real-life feel. The movie is filled with valuable lessons in life and love for those that choose to love you even if you weren't born into their family from the start.

Black Nativity on Blu-Ray/DVD TODAY!

Struggling to pay the bills, single mom Naima (Jennifer Hudson) sends her teenage son Langston (Jacob Latimore) to live with his estranged grandparents, Reverend Cornell and Aretha Cobbs (Forest Whitaker and Angela Bassett) in New York City. At first Langston resents their strict household, but with the help of new friends — and a little divine intervention — he embarks on an inspirational journey of self-discovery that brings the whole family together.

I just got this movie today and I'm really looking forward to watching it with my family. I like movies that are good for the whole family to watch together and enjoy. The Black Nativity sounds like just one of those kind of movies. And with the great run-down of actors and actresses it's sure to be a hit!

Walking with Dinosaurs on M-Go #WalkingwithDinosDVD

Have you ever heard of M-Go? If not let me tell you a little bit about it and how much we enjoyed our complementary experience watching Walking with Dinosaurs using the service. Through the M-Go service you can "rent" or purchase movies and watch them through your smart TV, tablet, media player, computer, and even your mobile phone. I have a box hooked up to my TV where I accessed the M-Go service. It was super easy to use and find the movie I had redeemed on my computer. Most movies have the option to watch them in SD or Digital HD. I highly recommend the Digital HD if you plan to watch it on your home TV, the quality is just like being in the theater.



Here's a little clip from the movie we watched. It was a great family friendly movie and we all really enjoyed the storyline and the little bits of educational information that were given through out the movie. It wasn't just my kids that learned something new either. I was very impressed with the information given about the different animals that I'd never heard about before. They were good at putting the information in a just the right place too so it didn't take away from the movie and kept your interest.

Even though Walking With Dinosaurs the movie, isn't releasing on Blu-ray™ and DVD until March 25 you can watch it on M-Go today!

My Take:
One of my favorite things about the Strawberry Shortcake cartoons is that they always teach your children some sort of lesson. I've always disliked letting my kids watch cartoons just for the sake of keeping them entertained, or for something to pass time. With Strawberry Shortcake I know my daughter isn't just wasting her time in front of the TV she's also learning something important.  With this set of Strawberry Shortcake shows she learned about being a big help and what that means not just to the person being helped, but also what it means to be a helper.

7. Female turkeys (hens) do not gobble. Instead, they communicate through low-chirps and clicking noises.
8. Wild turkeys can fly. They are actually quite fast, reaching speeds as fast as 55mph.
9. Turkeys can blush. This usually takes place when they are frightened, agitated, excited, or ill. And here we thought they were just bashful!
10. A turkey’s stomach has a container called the gizzard. It contains small stones the turkey has swallowed which help aid with breaking down food for digestion, since the birds do not have teeth.

My Take:
This was one of those keep you laughing films for sure. I definitely was surprised at how funny the movie was and that it not only was appealing to my kids but to myself and my husband also. I like the animated movies that have some children humor as well as some geared towards adults, yet is still appropriate for all ages. I haven't seen The Ultimate Gift yet, but after watching The Ultimate Life I feel like it's a must do. I really enjoyed this movie and it's storyline but I feel like I need to go back and watch the first movie so that everything in the second one makes more sense. I think it's one of those movies that you need to know both parts for it to completely come together. Some movies you just need the beginning for the rest to all fall in place. If you like a storyline where it's keeps you on the edge of your seat wondering what's next, this movie is for you!
