Minesweeper made for mobile = Classic gaming on the go!

I can remember playing Minesweeper on my computer when I was growing up, and it was probably even the first thing I taught my kids to play too. At the time it seemed like it was so complex and one might never find all those mines. Fast forward...well lets just skip how many years and now we can enjoy a classic favorite on the go with the mobile version. Since I recently downloaded the game on my iPhone I've been playing it at least once a day when I need to pass some time. It's even brought back memories of Minesweeper challenges I used to have with my husband back when we played it on the computer. We used to make bets on who could do the harder board faster, or go the longest without hitting a mine. You know back when things we so much simpler and not quite so complex like they are with modern day games.

Remember Minesweeper – the game that had you thinking, plotting, scheming and strategizing? Well, now you can play that very same game on your iPhone and iPad.

The principle is the same – clear the board of mines without blowing yourself up.

I've actually really enjoyed having this classic on my phone and am now wondering which one I should download next. What do you think? Spider Solitaire, war, or maybe Freecell Solitaire, it's so hard to choose!

My Friend Cayla - The Interactive Doll that plays WITH you!

I'm all about finding ways for my daughter to keep herself busy, and self-entertained. Especially in the summer when she has an overabundance of extra time. So when I got the opportunity to test out the My Friend Cayla doll with her I was pretty excited. Basically Cayla is your average sized doll, but she comes with a special feature about her. She can actually interact and talk with your child through the My Friend Cayla app. I really like that that doll is pretty much the same size as my daughters dolls so she can still play with her as a regular doll and change her clothes and all. That means she doesn't have to spend all of her time on a tablet to play with her either.

Besides just with playing with Cayla as a basic doll your child will also get to interact with her through her special app.

My daughter really enjoyed this feature. She's always wanting us to play games with her like Tic/Tac/Toe and now I can have her play it with Cayla when we are busy. She also enjoys talking with Cayla and asking her questions just to hear what her response will be. I like that she can still use her imagination and creativity while playing with the doll. Overall she is a really fun doll that provides an extra way for interactive play to keep kids minds busy. Plus they can even learn from her while she does math problems and tells her stories.

I wish an app like this was around when my kids were younger. It seems like now days kids are all about anything that has to do with using an iPod or tablet. If I could have put an app like this in my kids hands when they were younger I'm sure they would have been all about playing it too. It has bright colors, fun games, and lots of great interactive sounds to go along with it. All the things young children are interested in and want to play with. I like that the basics are covered in a fun and entertaining way that keeps children wanting to learn more and keep playing.

I love that apps like this one are available for kids to not just explore at home, but learn while they are doing it. My daughter is in 3rd grade and really enjoys doing math problems. And like most kids her age she also likes to play games.  Thanks to Splash Math she can do both at the same time, and be learning useful information in the process. I like that she can use the app on her own and I can track her progress through emails. She likes that she isn't restricted to just one type of game or math skill, she can choose different activities and practice the basics like addition and subtraction all the way up to starting to learn fun stuff like geometry and division. (Yes to her it's fun stuff!)
