Online Classes: Are they right for you?
Whether you're about to graduate and are thinking about further education for the first time, or have been in a career for some time now and would still like to further your education there is more than one option. Some may choose to follow the path of college courses at a traditional college campus while others will choose to further their education online. You may feel overwhelmed by the different options, but if you take a little time and think about these few aspects it might be an easier choice than you think.
Schools in now what?
For thousands of kids across the US school has officially started (or will soon) and that leaves us mom's with that burning question in our brains "now what"? What's next on our mom agendas? For some that means picking up those last minute school supplies. For some that means doing some deep cleaning with those extra bodies out of the house all day. And for many that means adding after school activities to our calendars and getting home late in the evenings. No matter how you look at it we can all use a little extra "help" with all that back to school season brings.

Choosing games for kids with special needs
Just because a child has special needs doesn't mean they can't enjoy fun games like other kids. It just means they might need a little extra help and patience. The people over at Learning Resources and Education Insights know this and that's why they came up with this awesome list featuring some of their special needs-adaptable toys.

Eliminate the Stress of Teaching Math. Take it Easy. Relax.
The Family Math Package Does It All for You.
Adaptive Math Curriculum Online w/ Placement Test and Lesson Plan – This program requires students to take placement tests first. You enroll the student(s) in a “target” grade level. The program then gives a mini-test for each major math concept to gauge student’s skill level. It automatically adjusts the difficulty level of questions based on the answers provided by student. If it detects any learning gaps between the “target” grade level and student’s current skill level, it automatically creates an individualized plan for the student. The plan includes video lessons, interactive review, practice worksheets online, automatic grading n tracking and re-test. Essentially this is a skill-based learning model. This program covers Grades 1–6 and Pre-Algebra. This program is completely automated, you cannot choose the lessons.
Family Math Package – This program DOES NOT pre-test students. It is a package of ALL grade levels (Grades 1- 6, Pre-Algebra and Algebra 1). Each grade level includes comprehensive course contents with video lessons, interactive review, practice worksheets, chapter tests, automatic grading n tracking and much more… PDF version of the lessons, worksheets and tests is also available in this program. Parent can place a student in any grade level and change the grade level at any time. This gives you the ultimate flexibility so if one purchases 1-year plan and if student completes a grade level in just 8 months, you can move the student up to the next grade level and continue to use the program for the remainder of time. On the other hand, if student is struggling with some math concepts and needs review from previous grade levels, you can lower the grade level to allow students to go back and review to catch up.
Single Grade Level – Just like the Family Math Package, this program DOES NOT pre-test students. It includes a “single” grade level of customer’s choice for 1-student. And as the name implies, it is a particular grade level that the customer selected so it does NOT allow them to change the grade level. Each grade level includes comprehensive course contents with video lessons, interactive review, practice worksheets, chapter tests, automatic grading n tracking and much more… PDF version of the lessons, worksheets and tests is also available in this program. This is an ideal lower cost option for parents who are certain that they need a particular grade level curriculum for her student. Just $5/month Single Grade level of customer’s choice (pay-as-you-go, no contract, cancel anytime)!

It's time for some hands-on creativity!
In our house it seems like there is always some sort of project full of creativity in the works. Wait strike that, it seems like there are always MULTIPLE projects in the works. I honestly can't think of the last time at least one of my kids, if not both, had multiple different projects going at the same time. It's just something they have always done both being creative kids. Heck for that matter I'm guilty of the same thing. I'll have a scrapbook project going the same time as a sewing project, and sometimes even something else too. I think it's our way of not getting bored with one project. Plus there are times you only have a short amount of time to work on a project and some of them may be too involved to work on quickly.
My daughter is one of those kids that tends to lean towards projects that she can see instant results from. She's not big on things like yarn crafts where it can take several hours to complete a project. She's more of a make it and it's done in 15 minutes kind of kid. Don't get me wrong, she will start something and work on it over a period of time but it still usually produces fast results too. I think that's why she likes the Gel-a-Peel kits so much. She can pull out the parts, make something, and in a few hours it's dry and ready for her to do something with it. But it's also something she can do over a span of time by adding to the original project. This is the part she struggles a little more with. Like her mom patience isn't her best virtue.

My daughter also likes to use her mind when it comes to creativity. She's actually quite tech savvy for an 11-year old. I found this out during a parent-teacher conference when the teacher asked me if she had told me about the coding she was doing during her free-time. I had no idea, but was really excited to hear that she was applying herself during down time and learning something new. I guess that's paid off because she's pretty good at it now.
Project Mc2 recently came out with a really neat Smart Pixel Purse that can be a lot of fun for kids that like to be creative. I like that it provides them with different levels of involvement making it something all kids can do.
The purse comes with some really cute pre-programmed animations so it's actually ready to use right out of the box. My daughter is big time into cats so she kept changing it back to the cat animation where a little heart forms on it's paw. This is nice for younger kids because they can push the bottom on the front to scroll through the different ones and still feel like they are customizing the purse.

The purse also comes with the ability to either manipulate the pre-programmed animations or create your own using a smartphone which is nice for the holder more experienced kids. I my daughter download the app on my phone since it has a nice sized screen to it make it easier to use. Once you make your animation you use the plug found on the back side of the purse in the special compartment to download it from your phone to the purse. It's kind of neat because you can also store you phone right in the back compartment if you like. I will note that my daughter is 11 and she was able to open and go through the entire process by herself without any help from me. It does walk you through everything pretty well which is nice for kids to be able to do on their own. The only thing she wasn't quite as excited about was that the purse is plastic, she said it was kiddish (hmm silly, me I thought she was a kid) and that she couldn't really put much in it besides her phone and maybe a few other small things. I do have to agree with her on the latter part, it would have been nice if it had a larger interior making it more functional as a children's purse rather than a play toy for her age.
Project Mc2 Smart Pixel Purse:
As seen in the Netflix original series, Project Mc2, customize Bryden’s Smart Pixel Purse! The Pixel Purse comes pre-programmed with 10 animations and combines technology play with tween girls' lifestyle and fashion. Using the free downloadable app, you can also create designs or scroll words on the multi-color LED display. Age: 6+, MSRP: $59.99
• Connect to device, and program the LED lights!
• Customize colors, designs (freehand or “stamps”), words, fonts and speed.
• Link images to create animations.
• Free app is compatible with iOS and Android users. (Smart device not included)

Music & Lights Comfy Car from Playgro
Although it's been several years I can still remember when each of my kiddos was little. It's a time when every parent learns what parenting is all about. And learning how to help their kids be able to entertain themselves so you don't have to do it non-stop. For me the best part of them learning to play on their own was that I had a little more free time to get things like cleaning done without having to stop and keep them happy. Or try to clean while they were taking their naps. I sure wish something the Playgro Music and Lights Comfy Car was around when my kids were little. It's super soft and super cute. Plus you can start using it around six months because it's stable enough to hold babies upright while they play. Being made all out of plush material it's nice and soft so you don't have to worry about your baby tipping over and smacking their head if they get tired during play time. I can remember my son falling asleep in the strangest of places because he didn't want to stop playing.
If you're babies are already grown up like mine are don't worry that you're missing out because this would make any new mom's day. And then you could still watch someone else's little one having a good time!
About:
Beep, Beep! Cruise around in the Playgro Music and Lights Comfy Car! This adorable plush car is the perfect place for baby to practice sitting up or for older babies to sit up and play in comfort and style! Baby will love exploring the detachable driver toy which includes loads of fun music and lights features. Baby will love the sound of the horn beeping, the indicator clicking and the rattling balls spinning. This adorable car also comes with baby's very own side mirror to help them learn about reflections and encourage imaginative play. Baby will practice developing their fine motor and gross motor skills with the many features for sliding, twisting spinning and pushing with their little fingers. Baby will also love storing their favorite toys in the convenient storage pouch and taking them for a drive on their imaginative journey! Easily detach the music and lights driver toy and attach to most prams, strollers or capsules for an extra way to play! 6 months & up.

Project Mc2 makes science fun and rewarding! @ProjectMc2
About Project Mc2:
Project Mc2 follows a team of six super-smart and seriously cool girls who use S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) to complete missions for the secret organization, NOV8 (that's “innovate”!). Project Mc2 is the first S.T.E.A.M. based girl’s franchise and brand that includes fun experiment sets, fashionable real-girl inspired dolls and is also an Emmy -nominated Netflix original series! The show and toy line inspire curiosity and learning through S.T.E.A.M inspired play themes we know girls already love! Smart is the New Cool!
Because we love to craft, and everyone knows that science can only be fun as you make it we recently took on the challenge of trying out some kits from the Project Mc2 spring line. We knew between the two of us my daughter and I would make the kits fun!
My daughter couldn't get her hands on the Project Mc2 H2O Nail Science Kit fast enough when it arrived. She was ready to tear into the box before I even had a chance to finish unpacking everything. It was the kit she specifically picked out so I told her we could do it first when it arrived. And she made sure I stuck to that! After we unpacked all of the parts and set them all out we read through the directions to see what else we needed. The kit does not come with some basic supplies so you'll have to get these to use it: cotton swabs, tape, batteries for the light and nail dryer and nail polish. I recommend using the most basic plain Jane nail polish you have, nothing fancy like gel or speed dry. Once we had all of our necessary supplies we followed along step by step and made a nice mess..no I'm not kidding we had nail polish all over my daughters fingers and the table. The first polish we tried was speed dry and it did not work out well. So we cleaned it all off and started over with some basic nail polish. Much better results this time. Still a little messy, but as you can see she got some nice swirls on her nails.
The jury is still out on this one as far as what we thought of it. We plan to try it again with some lighter colored polish and not quite so much of it in the bowl to see how it works. We did learn some things like different types of nail polish react differently in water. Some don't spread out as well as others. We also learned you need to clean up everything as soon as you're done and not leave nail polish inside of the droppers overnight as it makes it harder to get out. On the overall we had fun exploring the set together and really that's all that matters right!?

The next set we tried out was one that also came with a doll that represented one of the girls from Project Mc2. This was really cool because while we were waiting on the kits to arrive we had actually started watching the show on Netflix so my daughter knew all about her character. Camryn definitely has her own sense of style so the tie-dye project was definitely fitting for her. For this project we used a pair of white canvas sneakers, permanent markers, and alcohol. Pretty basic stuff really, and we already had white sneakers so we didn't even need to pick them up. Basically you make whatever patterns you like on a pair of sneakers (or other canvas item) with the markers, then use a dropper to put drops of alcohol onto the colors. It's really like magic to watch as the shoes transform from having basic colored circles (in the case of this pair) into a whole different look. You can even go back and add more color/alcohol later to change the colors or fill in areas it didn't reach.
This was my favorite project to do because not only was it fun, but now I have a fun pair of tie dyed sneakers to wear too!
We also received a make-up science kit where you use different colors of crayons to make fun lipstick and eye-shadows that you can actually wear! And we got a second doll set that teaches you how to make gummies or soaps using the included recipes and mold!
These are the kinds of things I really enjoy getting for my daughter because they not only are fun for her to play with, but they are also teaching her something at the same time. It gives us quality bonding time together too which is always a bonus in my opinion when it comes to crafting.

Graph in 3D with Casio's PRIZM fx-CG50
The PRIZM fx-CG50 by Casio is a new new graphing calculator. And that means lots of great new functions like 3D graphing, an improved catalog function, and a new case design to offer easier use. With the 3D graphing capabilities you can more easily draw 3D graphs such as planes, cylinders, and spheres, and view them from various angles. It still amazes me how far the calculator has come from when I was in school. I'm not going to say how long ago that was, but I will say we were just starting to get into advanced mathematics equation functions. I also have to say I like how easy it is to use. Your basic buttons are a little larger at the bottom so you have all of your primary calculator functions right there. Then you have the additional buttons a little smaller above those. This is definintely going to come in handy when my son starts college a year from now for sure!
High-resolution color LCD with full textbook-style display

*As of October 7, 2010, for the pixel resolution and color reproduction of calculators. According to a survey by Casio Computer Co., Ltd.
**Using repetition of the following one-hour sequence: Menu display for 5 minutes, Run-Matrix mode calculation for 5 minutes, flashing cursor in Run-Matrix mode for 50 minutes. Based on default settings for display brightness and auto power off. (Refer to the Specifications for exact settings).

Build - Play - Learn!
I remember some of my favorite toys growing up were the ones that I could build things with. I just loved being able to put pieces together over and over in different ways to get a new creation each time. I think that passion has passed down to my daughter because she's all the time stacking things up in her room making forts and tunnels for her stuffed animals. Toys that can be used more than one way to me are the best because they are less likely to get tossed in a corner and forgotten. Especially when kids can be creative and make their own ideas come to life with them.
Wednesday
Build - then play with Revell Junior Kits
I really like how now days there are build and play kits that are targeted towards the younger crowed. I remember growing up watching my older cousins put together model cars wishing I could build something too. Now days there are so many great options for the younger kids like the Revell Junior Kits. They are made for kids as young as five to be able to assemble with easy to follow instructions and larger parts for their smaller hands. And then when they are done they get to enjoy their creation by playing with it.

Stop "Brain Drain" with Casio’s PRIZM fx-CG10 Graphing Calculator - #Giveaway Ends 5/27
Summer break is just around the corner and that mean's school will be out and kids will inevitably fall into "brain drain" mode. Doing just a few math problems a day can help kids keep their minds active and not lose all the valuable information they learned during the school year. With the help of the new Casio’s PRIZM fx-CG10 kids will have a whole new way to learn, and have some fun at the same time.
About:
PRIZMTM is revolutionary among graphing calculators with features that enhance users’ understanding of mathematics. With conventional graphing calculators, students learn by inputting equations to create graphs. PRIZMTM creates a whole new way to learn math by enabling students to experiment by creating their own graphs over pictures of real-life scenes, and then understand the functions from the graphs that they created on their own.
High-resolution color LCD with full textbook-style display
The color LCD offers full textbook-style display with the highest pixel resolution*2 (82,944 dots) and widest color reproduction*2 (65,536 colors) of any calculator. PRIZMTM comes with high-resolution fonts up to 18x24 dots (including blank dots), to enable equations and text to be displayed just like they appear in textbooks. The Blanview LCD delivers superior visibility and low power consumption, enabling color display with an estimated run time of 140 hours on four AAA-size alkaline batteries.*3
Picture Plot enables learning from real-life pictures
Picture Plot enables users to create their own graphs over pictures displayed on the color LCD. PRIZMTM comes with 55 types of color pictures that users can create graphs over, such as a picture of the parabola of jets from a water fountain and an image sequence of a clock’s pendulum movement. Users can perform regression calculations from the completed graphs to enhance their understanding of math functions.
Multitude of functions that leverage the color LCD
Colors can be added to a multitude of graphing objects including dotted lines, circles, and bars, as well as grid lines on graphs, labels of coordinate axes, and coordinate values
displayed during tracing. The Color Link function links the colors used in graphs to the designated values in the spreadsheet screen, to aid the visual comprehension of trends and changes in values. PRIZMTM automatically color-codes brackets when entering equations with multiple brackets, as a visual aid to facilitate the entry of complex equations.

Camp Genesis Curriculum #Giveaway - Ends 6-18
Sponsored by Small Publishing
Hosted by Pea of Sweetness
Co-Hosted by Deals of Sweetness
Camp Genesis leads children on an exciting exploration of both God’s Word and His Creation, building a foundation of faith in their lives as they get to know their Creator better. Through fun games, creative crafts, tasty snacks, and interactive Bible lessons, children will discover God’s care for all of His Creation — each family, each child. As children take a closer look at God’s created world, may their response be to praise the Creator who designed it all and put their trust in Him.
Designed for children in preschool through grade five, this curriculum contains five days of lessons, crafts, snacks, and games that can be used in a variety of ministry settings including Vacation Bible School, day camps, mid-week programs, family devotions, or special events.
See what Emilee at Pea of Sweetness thought about this great Bible curriculum!

Educational Apps from Kids Academy Available on iTunes & Google Play Free for a limited time!
I have always liked the Kids Academy apps. And now I am happy to bring you information on the new updates. It is never too early to start learning and Kids Academy has made it easy AND fun with these apps!
Preschool & Kindergarten Baby Books, Songs, and Early Reading Toddler Games
This app is great if you have little ones around. It is guaranteed to not only keep them entertained, but also keep you entertained as well. I like that it is so interactive from being able to touch animals to hear their sounds to making a flower grow in a garden. It's like everything comes to life! The karaoke is also a lot of fun and you can record your kids singing along so you can play it back for them to hear when they are done. And with the latest update they've added Cinderella and Red Riding Hood!

123 Tracing Numbers: Montessori Math Game for Kids
Not only do kids get to trace letters to learn them, but they also get to collect fireflies along the path and then they are deposited into their jar. The jar then fills up as they progress through the alphabet, a perfect way to keep kids motivated to not give up and keep trying if they have trouble with a letter. It also has the option of creating multiple profiles if you have more than one child using the app, and you can even track their progress along the way to see just how well they are doing. I like this option because you can let them play independently, then check how they did later.
Free for a limited time! Normally $3.99!

This app is great for early learners. It teaches them letter recognition as well as the sounds of the letters and examples of words they appear in. I like that it's so easy to navigate that children can open the app on their own and pretty much just do it all with out any help. It keeps them entertained, but also teaches them useful information instead of just wasting their time. A great mix of vocabulary, math, and games all in one!
Download this game for FREE on Google Play

Rhyme to Read Giveaway Sponsored by Rhyme to Read
Hosted by Pea of Sweetness

Rhyme to Read is a highly effective program for beginning readers. The program emphasizes word families (e.g., cat, rat, sat) which are color-coded to assist children in discriminating the different patterns. Emilee at Pea of Sweetness uses Rhyme to Read with their three children - their preschooler just recently introduced to reading and their 6 and 8 year old who are both homeschooled in the 2nd grade level except in reading. Both have had struggles with reading due to their special needs. See what they thought in her Rhyme to Read reading app review.
