Stay leak free this summer with Energizer MAX!

This is a sponsored post by Mirum. Opinions are 100% my own.

My daughter and I were at Walmart shopping the other day and on the way to check out we saw the big battery center display. It immediately prompted my daughter to remind me we needed new batteries for her replacement light up Pillow Pet. I say replacement because we had to get her a new one after the batteries leaked inside her old one. I tell you what it was one sad day in our house when she went to turn it on at bed time and it wouldn't light up. I figured no big deal it just needed batteries, but after unscrewing the cover to the battery compartment I found a big mess. The original batteries we had used in it were generic ones given to her with the pillow as a gift. And sadly to say they had decided to leak all over the inside of the battery compartment totally destroying all of the metal parts. It was all crusty, rusty and just plain nasty inside there. I know that what's inside of a battery is nothing you want to be messing with so out it went pillow and all. Let me tell you it was a lesson learned about using cheap batteries.

New Party Game - Interaction

You’re with all your friends, you’ve got your family at your side but you need something to spice up the atmosphere. With kids in the mix and your own mother around it can be a little hard to find the right activity to suit everyone.

Rudy Games, an Austrian-based Game Studio, has recently launched the Kickstarter for a new interactive party board game, Interaction, that covers all ages… and all types. The sports-mad teen, the football-fanatic grandpa and the artistic aunty can find just the right degree of fun to challenge them through the game. The content is adjusted to suit each player’s age, interests and locations to make sure everyone is properly challenged.

With technology’s current level, this really should come as no surprise. The game is a party board game that has an app built in, which can learn and determine each player’s interests based on their previous answers to create the perfect game content. If the players choose, Interaction can also use their Facebook information to personalize the questions based on what pages they have liked and their recent activity. With other quiz-based games, once you’ve played them about ten times you can almost predict the questions. Yet, with Interaction, one of the best parts about the game is it  continuously provides new content available for regular download.

So when the party scene is failing, up to nine different players can get on board Interaction and play it out in categories based on knowledge, creativity, action, social and games.

They are running a Kickstarter now.  Find out more and get special perks here:

So have you played Panda Pop yet?

So it's been about a month since I first introduced you to Panda Pop. I feel it only fair to ask if you've taken the leap and tried it yet. WELL?? Have you?? Sorry I get a little excited when I talk about it because I love this game. It's probably my favorite game app on my phone. If I have a few spare minutes, or just need a little "cool down" time this is my go to app. It's one that doesn't frustrate me because the boards are so hard I can't get past them. I'm currently on level 255 so I am being honest when I tell you they aren't overly difficult. Yes some of them are harder, but you just have to put a little extra thought into them to figure out what the "trick" is to getting all of your baby pandas to safety. I will also say there are levels I really don't like. For instance the one featured on the right side of my photo. If you hit any of the "death bubbles" then your entire screen fills with black smoke and your turn is over. Sometimes aiming can be harder than it looks so these tend to be my weakness sometimes.

My new addiction is called Panda Pop

I try not to get too caught up on playing games on my phone. I'm one that can get easily worked up over trying to pass a level and downright irritated when I can't. Luckily I've stumbled upon one I've actually found to be quite relaxing and a stress reliever at times. It's called Panda Pop. If you've never heard of it let me give you a brief overview. Basically just as the title suggests - you're a panda and you pop (bubbles). Yes there's a little more to it than that, but I said brief right?

About:
An evil baboon has kidnapped & trapped precious panda pups in the jungle. Strategically burst matching bubbles to help beat him & return the cubs to their worried mother!

Features:
Unlock and discover dozens of beautiful worlds & over 500 challenging levels.
Play among friends and see how you stack up.
Fun & easy to learn. Challenging & rewarding to win!
Characters, animations, and sound effects you will LOVE.

One of the things I like about Panda Pop is that as you play and move along the path of levels you get to automatically "unlock" the different worlds. Unlike most games where you have to have a certain number of friends send you a virtual key to unlock the levels. This always turns me off because some games I play others don't play often so I didn't get to unlock worlds until the timer ran down which could be days later. With Panda Pop you move to the door and it magically unlocks for you to keep on playing.

Another thing I really like about Panda Pop is that as you progress along the path of levels you get different special powers that will then be featured on different levels. For instance on this one there are special bubbles that fill up your lantern all the way. A lantern gives you special powers too (that you unlocked back before this level). And if you play your board right you can activate all four lanterns at once and a mystical dragon comes on the board and blows up everything on your screen. Pretty cool right!?

The final thing I want to point out about Panda Pop that's different than other games I've played is that as you progress to higher levels it doesn't necessarily mean eventually it will be so hard you'll want to quit playing. I'm up in the 160's and still am enjoying the game. Yes some levels are a bit more challenging, but none have made me say "I'm done, this is too hard". I have a few games on my phone I haven't played for months just because I got up so high and the level became so difficult I couldn't passed it after who knows how many tries. Thankfully Panda Pop has not been that way at all.

Have you played Panda Pop yet? If not you HAVE to check it out!

Panda Pop is available for IOS, Android, and Windows phones/tablets.

Minesweeper made for mobile = Classic gaming on the go!

I can remember playing Minesweeper on my computer when I was growing up, and it was probably even the first thing I taught my kids to play too. At the time it seemed like it was so complex and one might never find all those mines. Fast forward...well lets just skip how many years and now we can enjoy a classic favorite on the go with the mobile version. Since I recently downloaded the game on my iPhone I've been playing it at least once a day when I need to pass some time. It's even brought back memories of Minesweeper challenges I used to have with my husband back when we played it on the computer. We used to make bets on who could do the harder board faster, or go the longest without hitting a mine. You know back when things we so much simpler and not quite so complex like they are with modern day games.

Minesweeper made for mobile!
Remember Minesweeper – the game that had you thinking, plotting, scheming and strategizing? Well, now you can play that very same game on your iPhone and iPad.

The principle is the same – clear the board of mines without blowing yourself up.

The in-game tutorial lets you easily and quickly brush up on your bomb-finding skills and will soon have you moving from the Beginner to the Expert level.

This is the perfect game for those of you who like strategy – Sweep Those Mines! will keep you entertained and challenged for hours.

I've actually really enjoyed having this classic on my phone and am now wondering which one I should download next. What do you think? Spider Solitaire, war, or maybe Freecell Solitaire, it's so hard to choose!

Express yourself with HP Social Media Snapshots #StickAPic

This post is part of a sponsored campaign with HP and MomSelect.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I've been helping out with my daughter's Girl Scouts Troop meetings and wanted to do something fun with the girls that would help teach them about expressing their true feelings. Feelings are something many girls in her age group (9-11) sometimes have difficulty sharing with others. Through the activity I planned I talked to the girls about feelings and how it's okay to share them with their Girl Scout "sisters". And that's it's okay to be silly, sad, mad, afraid, you name it and not have to feel like others will tease you for it. As part of this I had each of the girls do a photo of themselves alone with whatever expression they wanted to show a feeling. And then we did a second photo with a friend showing how they feel with their friends. And of course we did a few extras with groups of girls together just having some fun. I wanted to make sure they all had a some photos to take home and stick somewhere they wanted.

Through use of the HP Social Media Snapshots App (available in the iTunes Store or Google Play) you first choose a photo either from your camera roll (which I did to protect the girls privacy) or from one of your connected social media accounts. Then you can move the photo so it's centered on the photo layout, and you can choose your border. For this activity I picked the "clean" border because I planned to use the white space at the bottom for the girls to write their feeling they were expressing in the photo. There are a bunch of really cute ones though. I actually did several of the summer one to print photos at home. I even used a few of them I printed to decorate my laptop cover.

Once you've picked the photo and picked your border you use the special HP Social Media Snapshots photo paper to print them out wirelessly on your printer. The paper is 4" x 5" just like the old Polaroid instant photos I'm sure you can all remember. And it's extra special because the back peels off to reveal a sticky surface that's actually re-stickable on most surfaces. Of course if you attach it to paper like we did it's going to be pretty much stuck for good. The girls used their photos to make "Sometimes I feel" posters to help them think about all of the ways they feel. After we were done they all took their posters (and extra photos) home with them to share with their families. The girls kept telling me how much fun it was and where they were going to stick up their extra pictures they had once they got home.

Want to try it out for yourself? HP Social Media Snapshots 4" x 5" Sticky Back Photo Paper is available at Staples.

Now through October 31st, HP Social Media Snapshots are BOGO when you use the following link and click “redeem now”

Bring Creativity to life with the Crayola Color Alive App

The Crayola Color Alive App brings two things together that my daughter loves to do, coloring and playing on her tablet. I like it because it's something we can do together, and it helps her use her creative side when coloring in the books. With a special set of coloring pages you can color, and then "bring to life" your favorite characters. It's really cool how you can make the characters move through the use of the Crayola Color Alive App. There's even pages you can print out so you can test it out for yourself right in the app. Then when you are ready to expand you can purchase full coloring books that even come with a special crayon that unlocks special virtual effects.

My daughter was super excited to see that Monster High was included as one of the characters she could color and animate. She didn't even color the full page she was so excited to get it paired up with the app and make her doll come to life. I have to admit it was pretty cool. It was so cool that when my set of coloring books arrived my 15 year old son even wanted to check them out.

About:
Allowing fans to see their favorite character come to life on screen, exactly as they have created them on the coloring pages, the app combines the traditional coloring experience with the most advanced 4D technology. How?

**The Color Alive! eye-popping adventure begins by printing and taking colored
crayons to the coloring pages from the app or Crayola Color Alive! Action Coloring
Books. The app is from DAQRI, the industry leader in augmented reality.

**Once colored, in app mode aim the mobile device’s camera at the colored page, tap
and the character bursts to the screen in multiple 4D animated sequences, complete
with the colors and designs from the artist’s printed page.

Buy it: You can purchase Crayola Color Alive coloring books on the Crayola website.

Get the App: You can download the app now for FREE in the iTunes App Store or the Google Play Store.

Win it:  One lucky reader will win a set of 6 Crayola Color Alive! coloring books (value of approx $40). This giveaway will end August 18th at 11:59 PM EST. The winner will have 48 hours to respond to my email. If no response, a new winner will be chosen.  Prize fulfillment will be made by the sponsor, I am not responsible for prize delivery or lost or stolen deliveries. Open to residents of the US.

My Friend Cayla - The Interactive Doll that plays WITH you!

I'm all about finding ways for my daughter to keep herself busy, and self-entertained. Especially in the summer when she has an overabundance of extra time. So when I got the opportunity to test out the My Friend Cayla doll with her I was pretty excited. Basically Cayla is your average sized doll, but she comes with a special feature about her. She can actually interact and talk with your child through the My Friend Cayla app. I really like that that doll is pretty much the same size as my daughters dolls so she can still play with her as a regular doll and change her clothes and all. That means she doesn't have to spend all of her time on a tablet to play with her either.

Besides just with playing with Cayla as a basic doll your child will also get to interact with her through her special app.

App Features:
- Ask Cayla questions about many things like animals, places, people and more!
- Chat about clothes, her family, school activities, her hobbies and lots more!
- Cayla can tell you stories.
- Cayla can solve Math problems and Spell words
- Look at Cayla’s photo albums and she will tell you about what she’s been up to.
- You can even play a game with Cayla.

My daughter really enjoyed this feature. She's always wanting us to play games with her like Tic/Tac/Toe and now I can have her play it with Cayla when we are busy. She also enjoys talking with Cayla and asking her questions just to hear what her response will be. I like that she can still use her imagination and creativity while playing with the doll. Overall she is a really fun doll that provides an extra way for interactive play to keep kids minds busy. Plus they can even learn from her while she does math problems and tells her stories.

(Click to enlarge photo to read all about Cayla)

About:
My Friend Cayla is not just a doll, she's a real friend!  Using cloud-based voice recognition with safe internet connectivity, your child can talk with Cayla and she'll understand and reply in real-time to millions of things!

Offline, My Friend Cayla plays games, shares her photo library and offers hours and hours of storytelling without the internet.

She's the smartest friend you will ever have!

You can check out the My Friend Cayla App at the iTunes store. App download comes with the doll at no additional cost.

I like that it is so interactive from being able to touch animals to hear their sounds to making a flower grow in a garden. It's like everything comes to life! The karaoke is also a lot of fun and you can record your kids singing along so you can play it back for them to hear when they are done. And with the latest update they've added Cinderella and Red Riding Hood!

123 Tracing Numbers: Montessori Math Game for Kids
Not only do kids get to trace letters to learn them, but they also get to collect fireflies along the path and then they are deposited into their jar. The jar then fills up as they progress through the alphabet, a perfect way to keep kids motivated to not give up and keep trying if they have trouble with a letter. It also has the option of creating multiple profiles if you have more than one child using the app, and you can even track their progress along the way to see just how well they are doing. I like this option because you can let them play independently, then check how they did later.

This app is great for early learners. It teaches them letter recognition as well as the sounds of the letters and examples of words they appear in. I like that it's so easy to navigate that children can open the app on their own and pretty much just do it all with out any help. It keeps them entertained, but also teaches them useful information instead of just wasting their time. A great mix of vocabulary, math, and games all in one!
