Thor: Ragnarok arrives 3/6

We loved Thor so much we actually just watched it for the second time this weekend. My daughter is a big Thor fan so we saw it the first time in theaters. And since her dad wasn't able to go with us we watched it again with him this past weekend. I think it was just as good the second time around as the first. It's jam packed full of thrills and excitement. Honestly it's one of those movie series that gets better with every addition. This one really had my attention probably the most of all three of them. I don't want to give away any of the good parts, but having the Hulk in this one was a nice addition tying it in with other Marvel characters.

If you haven't had the chance to check it out yet just take a peek at this sneak peek video and I promise you'll want to!

In Marvel Studios’ “Thor: Ragnarok,” Thor (Chris Hemsworth) is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok – the destruction of his home world and the end of Asgardian civilization – at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela (Cate Blanchett). But first he must survive a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger – the Incredible Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) – and grapple with his silver-tongued adopted brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston), the fierce warrior Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) and the eccentric Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum).

It's movie time with Despicable Me 3 and Leap!

It's Christmas break and that means it's time to watch lots of movies! We always catch up on all the latest movies over Christmas break because it seems like it's always too cold to play outside. So far we have watched Despicable Me 3 and Leap! and let me tell you we've been having lots of laughs. If you've not seen any of the Despicable Me movies then you are missing out big time. They are all super funny and build off of each other. The third installment in the series is just as funny as the first two - if not funnier. Leap! is a little more laid back and not back to back laughs, but the story-line is a good one and one you'll want to follow along with so pay attention. My daughter wanted to see it in the theater, but we didn't have time when it was playing so she was super excited to watch it. She wants to be a singer and dance when she grows up so the story was perfect for her!

Despicable Me 3
Illumination, the studio that brought you Sing, The Secret Life of Pets and the Despicable Me franchise, continues the adventures of Gru and his family in Despicable Me 3. After he is fired from the Anti-Villain League for failing to take down Balthazar Bratt (Trey Parker, “South Park,” Team America: World Police), the latest evil mastermind to threaten humanity, Gru finds himself in the midst of a major identity crisis. But when a mysterious stranger shows up to inform Gru that he has a long-lost twin brother — a brother who desperately wishes to follow in his twin’s despicable footsteps — the former super-villain rediscovers just how good it feels to be bad.

Leap!
Eleven-year-old orphan Félicie (Fanning) has one dream — to go to Paris and become a dancer. Her best friend, Victor (Wolff), an imaginative, exuberant boy with a passion for creating, has a dream of his own — to become a famous inventor. In a leap of faith, Victor and Félicie leave their orphanage in pursuit of their passions. But there’s a catch: Félicie must pretend to be the child of a wealthy family in order to gain admittance to the prestigious and competitive Opera Ballet School in Paris. And with no professional dance training, she quickly learns that talent alone is not enough to overcome the ruthless, conniving attitudes of her fellow classmates, led by the devious Camille Le Haut (Ziegler). Determined to succeed, Félicie finds her mentor in the tough and mysterious school custodian, Odette (Jepsen), who, along with Victor’s encouraging friendship, help her reach for the stars.

Have you seen Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales yet?

Okay, so if you read the title of this post and answered yes - GOOD FOR YOU! But if you read the title and said no - BOO ON YOU! I got the opportunity to see it as soon as it was released on digital HD and boy was I glad. I was upset we didn't get a chance to make it to the theater when it first came out, but it was just as good watching it at home. Sometimes I actually prefer watching movies at home because I don't have the distraction of others around me, and I can pause the movie if I happen to have the need to potty part way through. And Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is one of those movies you don't want to get up part way through and miss something! It's action packed pretty much through the entire movie keeping you on the edge of your seat. Captain Jack Sparrow always has something witty to say and you don't want to miss it.

Honestly though if you haven't seen the movie yet, I do highly recommend it. My whole family loved it. You can check out a clip from the movie below:

And here's a little extra fun for those that love the movie like I do!

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is out TODAY on 4K UHD & Blu-ray!

I admit I was one of those that counted down the days until Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hit the theater. I loved the first one so much I just couldn't wait to see what was in store next. I was especially looking forward to seeing what would happen with Groot. And thankfully they brought him back in baby form to give him the chance to shine again. Just like in the first movie Groot is still my favorite character. It was fun to see what the new "Baby Groot" was going to do to make me laugh. My second favorite was Rocket because he too was almost like a different character this time around and I actually really liked the changes in him. He had a little softer side that showed compassion to the other people he came in contact with. Yes he still had his mean and standoffish side where he would push people away, but he also opened up when it was just the right time to show his inner self. I guess it kind of reminded me of real life. The rest of the guardians were just as awesome as they were in the first movie. I love how they all have their own personalities that shine through in the movie yet they all come together as one.

Check out some of the changes in Rocket and Groot in this short video clip:

About:
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 marks the Studios first in-home title to release in stunning 4K Ultra HD format, providing consumers with the ultimate home entertainment experience with next-generation high dynamic range visuals and Dolby Atmos immersive audio. Set to the all-new sonic backdrop of Awesome Mixtape #2, the film’s storyline continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians (Chris Pratt as Peter Quill/Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax, Vin Diesel as the voice of Groot, and Bradley Cooper as Rocket) must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mystery of Peter Quill’s true parentage.  This blockbuster sequel featuring the world’s favorite band of intergalactic misfits, blasts into homes on 4K Ultra HD™ and Blu-ray on Aug. 22.

On the overall I have to say I loved the second movie just as much as the first. It had a whole new story-line that made you want to watch and see how it would all turn out. Now to patiently wait for the third volume to come!

SMURFS: THE LOST VILLAGE - Have you seen it?

I grew up on the Smurfs, so I was one of many that got super excited when they hit the big screen with the first Smurfs movie. And I have to say I was not disappointed one bit, I loved it! Here were are a few years later and they are back at it again with SMURFS: THE LOST VILLAGE. Another wave of excitement for me. It brings back so many childhood memories every time I watch the Smurfs. So of course it was only natural I had to check out this movie too. I wasn't able to catch this one on the big screen so I had to wait a bit longer..which was super hard because I had heard so many great things about the movie.

So guess what? I've watched SMURFS: THE LOST VILLAGE and I LOVE it too! It's a bit different than the original Smurfs movie which I actually liked. It's more about them instead of about human interaction like the first movie so it reminds me more of the original Smurfs cartoons. I won't go into all of the details, but I will say it's something I as a Smurfs fan have always dreamed of for Smurfette. Definitely a movie you don't want to miss if you're a Smurfs fan like I am.

About:
A mysterious map sets Smurfette and her best friends Brainy, Clumsy and Hefty on an exciting and thrilling race through the Forbidden Forest filled with magical creatures to find a mysterious lost village before the evil wizard Gargamel does. Embarking on a roller coaster journey full of action and danger, the Smurfs are on a course that leads to the discovery of the biggest secret in Smurf history!

SMURFS: THE LOST VILLAGE features an all-star voice cast, including platinum-selling recording artist Demi Lovato (Camp Rock franchise) as Smurfette, Emmy®-nominated comic actor Rainn Wilson (“The Office”) as Gargamel, Joe Manganiello (Magic Mike) as Hefty Smurf, Jack McBrayer (“30 Rock”) as Clumsy Smurf, Danny Pudi (”Community”) as Brainy Smurf, Michelle Rodriguez (The Fate of the Furious) as SmurfStorm, Ellie Kemper (“Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt”) as SmurfBlossom, Ariel Winter (“Modern Family”) as SmurfLily, with Mandy Patinkin (“Homeland”) as Papa Smurf and Academy Award® winner Julia Roberts (Best Actress, Erin Brockovich, 2000) as SmurfWillow.

SMURFS: THE LOST VILLAGE is now available on 4K, Blu-ray & DVD so be sure to check it out today if you haven't seen it yet.

What do you like to do on a rainy day? How about a movie!

When it's rainy out, which it has been a lot here lately it seems I don't really have as much ambition to get up and moving. I for one would rather snuggle up under a blanket and watch a movie with my kids. It's actually a great excuse for some mommy cuddling time with my daughter really, but don't tell her that. Plus we get to make some memories together while we watch a fun movie together and have some laughs. Over spring break last week we broke out some movies we'd been meaning to watch that somehow got lost behind the DVD stand and did some catching up on rainy day movie time. One of them was a good blast from the past for me...Pinocchio. WOW it had been a long time since I had last seen it on television growing up. Of course not much had changed...besides the quality of course. It's amazing what technology can do for an older movie to make it almost like something totally new.

If you haven't had the chance to check out Pinocchio yet I highly recommend it because seeing it in HD is amazing!

It's Doctor Strange time!

If you didn't catch it in the theater you don't have to wait any longer..it's officially Doctor Strange time! We don't always catch movies when they hit the big screen so I'm always excited when they hit the shelves so I can catch up. Doctor Strange was definitely one of those movies I wish I had seen on the big screen though. It was so full of action I can only imagine how cool it was in theaters. I don't want to give away any of the details for those that might not have seen it either, but it's a flick you'll definitely want to run to the stores to snatch up quick!

About:
From Marvel Studios comes “Doctor Strange,” the story of world-famous neurosurgeon Dr. Stephen Strange whose life changes forever after a horrific car accident robs him of the use of his hands. Own The Secret Life of Pets TODAY!

This holiday season, the answer to the question “What do my pets do when I'm not home?” is answered in The Secret Life of Pets. The Secret Life of Pets is a comedy about the lives our pets lead when we leave for work or school. Max, voiced by Louis C.K., is a loyal terrier living a perfectly happy existence until his owner, Katie (Ellie Kemper) brings home Duke (Eric Stonestreet) a big, boisterous mutt she finds at the shelter. When Max and his unruly new “roommate” slip away from their dog-walker, they find themselves lost in the urban jungle of New York City. In an attempt to stay ahead of animal control and a rebel band of abandoned pets led by an unhinged bunny named Snowball (Kevin Hart), they put aside their differences to survive the epic journey back home.

My daughter and I waited a long time to see this movie because we are big animal lovers. I have to say now that we've seen it...twice it was well worth the wait. We laughed so hard both times we watched it. I was quite surprised at how funny it was even to me as an adult. They definitely did a great job adding humor to the movie for both kids and adults that was appropriate and entertaining.

Check out this fun video clip from the movie and tell me what you think...funny right?

And to top it all off Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has partnered with Apple iTunes on The Secret Life of Pets to provide Siri the koalifications to answer the question, “What do my Pets do when I’m not at home?" With 15 different programmed responses, this is the first time Apple has collaborated on a home entertainment title and the first time Siri has been programmed to interact with an iTunes movie title. We are not kitten you, this toadally works! (I tried it and it's super cute, my daughter kept asking over and over trying to hear all 15 responses too!)

The BFG "Big Friendly Giant" is now available!

I've always been a big Steven Spielberg fan and honestly who can go wrong with a Disney film? So you can only imagine how excited I was when I heard about the movie The BFG. It's a movie the whole family can enjoy together which I really love. Many times my husband won't watch animated movies with us because they don't keep his interest. But I have to say this movie sure did with it's blend of real and fictionary dialogue. It's one I can actually see us watching over again too so that's definitely saying something!

“The BFG” unites the talents of three of the world’s greatest storytellers – Roald Dahl, Walt Disney and Steven Spielberg – to bring to life the classic tale of a courageous little girl named Sophie (newcomer Ruby Barnhill) and a gentle and charming Big Friendly Giant (Oscar®-winner Mark Rylance) who introduces her to the wonders and perils of Giant Country. Spielberg employs a new, hybrid style of film-making blending live-action and performance-capture techniques, resulting in genuine, heartfelt performances and super-photorealistic animation.

Families and fans will be swept away by this spectacular adventure and delight in extensive bonus features, including a behind-the-scenes look at the making of “The BFG” hosted by Ruby Barnhill and featuring Steven Spielberg; a charming, all-new short; a fun and whimsical tutorial on the Big Friendly Giant’s unique language of Gobblefunk; a touching tribute to screenwriter Melissa Mathison (“E.T. the Extraterrestrial,” “The Black Stallion”); and more.

Spielberg’s directorial debut with The Walt Disney Studios was a labor of love, as he’s been a fan of Dahl’s for years. In fact, he read “The BFG” to his own children when they were younger. According to Spielberg, “It’s a story about friendship; it’s a story about loyalty and protecting your friends; and it’s a story that shows that even a little girl can help a big giant solve his biggest problems.” “The BFG” is a Golden Phizzwizard* come true for Spielberg, Dahl fans and audiences around the world.

Disney•Pixar's Finding Dory hits Blu-ray Tomorrow!

Ever since we saw Finding Nemo we had hoped they would come out with a second movie so we could watch our favorite fish Dory again. So you can only imagine how excited we were when we heard she was going to have her own movie! Finding Dory is an all new epic under water adventure you won't want to miss. We just received our copy over the weekend and let me tell you we couldn't get it into the Blu-ray player fast enough. It was definitely worth the wait to watch it as our family movie night flick.

Disney•Pixar's “Finding Dory,” swims home just in time for the holidays on Blu-ray 3D™, Blu-ray, DVD and On-Demand on Nov. 15. Viewers can watch Dory’s hilarious and heartwarming quest to find her family and continue the underwater adventure with hours of immersive bonus features.

The film’s playful and plentiful bonus offerings include “Piper,” the theatrical short film starring an irresistible sandpiper hatchling; an all-new mini short featuring interviews with Dory’s pals from the Marine Life Institute; a behind-the-scenes look at the most challenging character Pixar has ever created; never-before-seen deleted scenes, including a digital exclusive featuring the Tank Gang from “Finding Nemo” who make it their mission to get Marlin and Nemo to the Marine Life Institute; and much, much more.

“Finding Dory” features an all-star voice cast, reuniting Ellen DeGeneres (“The Ellen DeGeneres Show”) and Albert Brooks (“This is 40”) as Dory and Marlin, the ever-optimistic blue tang and the uptight but loyal clownfish. Ed O’Neill (“Modern Family”) lends his voice to “septopus” Hank, Kaitlin Olson (“It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”) voices whale shark Destiny, and Ty Burrell (“Modern Family”) gives voice to beluga whale Bailey. Dory’s doting parents Charlie and Jenny are portrayed by Eugene Levy (“Schitt’s Creek”) and Diane Keaton (“Love the Coopers”), and 12-year-old Hayden Rolence (“Beta Persei”) steps in as Nemo, the young clownfish with a lucky fin.

Thirteen years after the original, audiences get a new chapter in the story of their favorite forgetful blue tang. As returning director Andrew Stanton describes, “I realized that I was worried about Dory. The idea of her short-term memory loss and how it affected her was unresolved. What if she got lost again?” His response is a touching tale of friendship and family that’s truly unforgettable … perhaps even for Dory.

Nine Lives is now on DVD & Blu-ray - Have you seen it yet? #NineLives #NineLivesInsiders

Nine Lives is officially out on DVD and Blu-ray so what are you waiting for? I know we missed this hit in theaters so I was super excited when it arrived on my doorstep. We are a multi-cat house so we have to check out all cat related movies first hand. I will say this one had a little more grown-up humor to it, but even my 10-year old daughter followed right along. We honestly all laughed multiple times through out the movie. I'm sure we'll be watching it again before long because my daughter keeps talking about it over and over.

About:
Tom Brand (Kevin Spacey) is a daredevil billionaire at the top of his game. His eponymous company FireBrand is nearing completion on its greatest achievement to date – the tallest skyscraper in the northern hemisphere. But Tom’s workaholic lifestyle has disconnected him from his family, particularly his beautiful wife Lara (Jennifer Garner) and his adoring daughter Rebecca (Malina Weisman).

Rebecca’s 11th birthday is here, and she wants the gift she wants every year, a cat. Tom hates cats, but he is without a gift and time is running out. His GPS directs him to a mystical pet store brimming with odd and exotic cats- where the store’s eccentric owner- Felix Perkins (Christopher Walken), presents him with a majestic tomcat, named Mr. Fuzzypants.

En route to his daughter’s party, Tom has a terrible accident. When he regains consciousness he discovers that somehow, he has become trapped inside the body of the cat. Adopted by his own family, he begins to experience what life is truly like for the family pet, and as a cat, Tom begins to see his family and his life through a new and unexpected perspective. Meanwhile, his family adjusts to life with an odd and stubborn cat, and his son David (Robbie Amell), steps up in ways Tom never expected.

If any hope exists of returning to his family as the husband and father they deserve, Tom will have to learn why he has been placed in this peculiar situation and the great lengths he must go to earn back his human existence.

Alice Through The Looking Glass - Own it today!

I was so excited when this movie arrived. I absolutely love Johnny Depp as an actor and having seen the first Alice In Wonderland movie knew I'd be in for a treat with this one.

The all-star cast from the 2010 blockbuster is back with Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter who’s desperately searching for his family; Anne Hathaway as Mirana, the kind, mild-mannered White Queen; Helena Bonham Carter as Iracebeth, the short-tempered, big-headed Red Queen; and Mia Wasikowska as Alice, the heroine at the heart of the story. Sacha Baron Cohen joins the ensemble as Time, a magical being that is part human, part clock, and the late Alan Rickman—to whom the film is dedicated—is the voice of Absolem, the blue Monarch butterfly who metamorphosed from the blue caterpillar “Alice in Wonderland.”

Sure enough I was right just as I suspected, this movie is awesome! From the superior acting to the amazing scenes it's a movie you don't want to miss.

If you haven't seen the movie yet here's a video sneak peek:
