It's time for some hands-on creativity!
In our house it seems like there is always some sort of project full of creativity in the works. Wait strike that, it seems like there are always MULTIPLE projects in the works. I honestly can't think of the last time at least one of my kids, if not both, had multiple different projects going at the same time. It's just something they have always done both being creative kids. Heck for that matter I'm guilty of the same thing. I'll have a scrapbook project going the same time as a sewing project, and sometimes even something else too. I think it's our way of not getting bored with one project. Plus there are times you only have a short amount of time to work on a project and some of them may be too involved to work on quickly.
My daughter is one of those kids that tends to lean towards projects that she can see instant results from. She's not big on things like yarn crafts where it can take several hours to complete a project. She's more of a make it and it's done in 15 minutes kind of kid. Don't get me wrong, she will start something and work on it over a period of time but it still usually produces fast results too. I think that's why she likes the Gel-a-Peel kits so much. She can pull out the parts, make something, and in a few hours it's dry and ready for her to do something with it. But it's also something she can do over a span of time by adding to the original project. This is the part she struggles a little more with. Like her mom patience isn't her best virtue.

My daughter also likes to use her mind when it comes to creativity. She's actually quite tech savvy for an 11-year old. I found this out during a parent-teacher conference when the teacher asked me if she had told me about the coding she was doing during her free-time. I had no idea, but was really excited to hear that she was applying herself during down time and learning something new. I guess that's paid off because she's pretty good at it now.
Project Mc2 recently came out with a really neat Smart Pixel Purse that can be a lot of fun for kids that like to be creative. I like that it provides them with different levels of involvement making it something all kids can do.
The purse comes with some really cute pre-programmed animations so it's actually ready to use right out of the box. My daughter is big time into cats so she kept changing it back to the cat animation where a little heart forms on it's paw. This is nice for younger kids because they can push the bottom on the front to scroll through the different ones and still feel like they are customizing the purse.
The purse also comes with the ability to either manipulate the pre-programmed animations or create your own using a smartphone which is nice for the holder more experienced kids. I my daughter download the app on my phone since it has a nice sized screen to it make it easier to use. Once you make your animation you use the plug found on the back side of the purse in the special compartment to download it from your phone to the purse. It's kind of neat because you can also store you phone right in the back compartment if you like. I will note that my daughter is 11 and she was able to open and go through the entire process by herself without any help from me. It does walk you through everything pretty well which is nice for kids to be able to do on their own. The only thing she wasn't quite as excited about was that the purse is plastic, she said it was kiddish (hmm silly, me I thought she was a kid) and that she couldn't really put much in it besides her phone and maybe a few other small things. I do have to agree with her on the latter part, it would have been nice if it had a larger interior making it more functional as a children's purse rather than a play toy for her age.
Project Mc2 Smart Pixel Purse:
As seen in the Netflix original series, Project Mc2, customize Bryden’s Smart Pixel Purse! The Pixel Purse comes pre-programmed with 10 animations and combines technology play with tween girls' lifestyle and fashion. Using the free downloadable app, you can also create designs or scroll words on the multi-color LED display. Age: 6+, MSRP: $59.99
• Connect to device, and program the LED lights!
• Customize colors, designs (freehand or “stamps”), words, fonts and speed.
• Link images to create animations.
• Free app is compatible with iOS and Android users. (Smart device not included)

Cut, create, and show with Cutie Stix
My daughter is a born crafter. You give her pretty much anything and she can come up with a creative idea to turn it into something crafty. She just really enjoys using her hands and her creativity to make things, especially when it comes to making them for others. Knowing that I knew from the get-go she would love the Cutie Stix Cut & Create Station. It had everything she needed to craft and create all sorts of fun things. Of course her being out of the box unique she didn't stop at just creating jewelry with the included parts, she was making the beads and using them for everything she could think of. She had them braided in her hair, looped through her shoe strings, and even on one of the cats collars. Let me tell you she was a crafting machine! I loved seeing her get so excited when she was thinking about all the ways she could use them and the things she could make for her friends. She's already got matching bracelets for her and a couple of her friends to wear on the first day of school. I'm already wondering how long it will be before she's asking me to buy more refill kits because I can only imagine it won't be long before hers start to run low.
As a parent it's great to see your kiddo having a good time and using their imagination to create things outside of what a craft set suggests. I for one am always happy to see my daughter getting creative and using her imagination. Too often kids will take shortcuts now days and only make exactly what a package shows them. This set gives them tips on what to make, but also opens the world of possibilities to them too. So I would say if you purchase this be sure to point out that they don't have to just make jewelry they can add the beads to everyday things to give them some added fun!

Color, Fold, Build - REPEAT
I like crafts that are simple. Simple as in I can explain it to my daughter one time and she can go off and do it over and over by herself. Yes I do enjoy crafting with her but there are times when I have a lot on my plate and I need some quite time to get caught up. And that's when I like a craft that I can go over with her and then she can do it all by herself. Crafts from Paper Punk just happen to be those kind of crafts. And they happen to be something my daughter really enjoys. She loves to color and she loves to build and create things. So the kits work out perfectly because that's what she gets to do over and over until her crafting heart is content. She was actually really excited when the new Paper Punk® Color + Build My Life as a Fashion Designer set arrived because she loves fashion. With this set she can design clothes for the paper dolls using her imagination and creativity. It's really fun watching when your child is using their imagination to see what they can come up with out of the ordinary. She likes it because she doesn't have to do things in any specific color or pattern like in real-life as she calls it.

Educational Insights makes play time fun!
My daughter has always been a busy kid, no matter where we are she's doing something. At home she's crafting and in the car she's either reading or playing with something. And I'm one of those moms that likes to make good use of her time by providing her with fun things to do that are also beneficial to her. Things that either teach her something, or allow her to make something useful. Take for instance the IllumiCraft™ Light-up! Pencil Case kit. It not only teaches her about basic circuitry and engineering, it also provides her with something useful when she's done. Now this is definitely the kind of play time fun I like to encourage. Of course there's always those times that kids do things that are just plain fun like playing with Playfoam GO!. I'll admit I even sat and played with a handful of it while watching TV. It's something to keep my hands busy so I don't feel quite as guilty for just sitting and not being up doing something.
IllumiCraft™ Light-up! Pencil Case Features + Benefits:
• Introduces basic circuitry and engineering
• Develops problem-solving skills
• Encourages a love of science and experimentation
• Promotes artistic expression and creativity
• Includes canvas bag; 2 LEDs with screw-in back units; battery case with lid and CR2032 battery; and 2 feet of adhesive, conductive copper tape
• Includes 2 sheets of sparkly, decorative, shaped foam stickers; paper and plastic decorative shapes; 5-color marker set, stencil and guide
Playfoam GO! Features + Benefits:
• Portable carrying case includes 8 cool Playfoam colors
• Playfoam never dries out and won't stick to carpet, car seats, or clothing, so cleanup is a snap!
• Perfect for playdates, parties, and everyday imaginative play at home
• Safe and non-toxic
• There’s a ninth bonus compartment for mixing Playfoam colors!
This is the almost finished IllumiCraft™ Light-up! Pencil Case. It came with everything my daughter needed to create a simple circuit to make it light up. Plus it came with markers, stickers, and other fun stuff to decorate it. I have to say I thought it was pretty cool once we got it working. It wasn't as simple as it seemed like it would be. You have to really make sure everything lines up just right or the lights won't come on. Once you've completed this part of the craft, the rest is left up to your imagination because there are no instructions or guidance whatsoever about how to decorate it.
Buy it: You can find these and other great educational themed toys at the Educational Insights website.

Gel-a-Peel - Are you ready to get crafty?
If you've been around my blog long you already know my daughter and I love to craft together. So you can only imagine how excited we both were when we got to check out these two new sets from Gel-a-Peel. I will be honest I never imagined I would be just as into it as my daughter was. We sat for probably two hours talking about what we wanted to make, and then actually making things. Heck by the time we were all done some of the things we started on were already dry!
There are basically three different ways to make things with your Gel-a-Peel kit.
1. Using one of the design stations to make your projects.
2. Using templates to make projects.
3. Using your own creativity to make projects.
All three are equally fun in our opinion as long as you don't run out of gel! We have already gone completely through two of the tubes we received and I'm not sure how much is left in the other ones.
The Sparkle Bead Station that we received gives you all you need to make beads, rings, and pencil grips. The Glow in the Dark kit included not just the glow gel but also fun templates for making jewelry shapes, and letters too. So either way you go you will have everything you need to get started on your projects.
Also in the kits you get fun tips that you put on the ends of the gel tubes. It reminded me of using icing on a cake when you would squeeze it out. Some were just small hole openings while others had ridges to give you a rippled effect. It gave you even more ways to get creative in your crafting. I will note when you are done with a tip go ahead and let the gel dry inside of it. That makes it so much easier to clean out then trying to do it while it's still wet.
But if you're ever at a loss for ideas, or don't feel confident enough to free-hand things you can find additional templates right on the Gel-a-Peel website. They also have an awesome YouTube page that has videos to show you ways to create.
As you can see we did all three ways of crafting with Gel-a-Peel. I think my favorite was making the beads because it gave me something to do after they were all dry. The bracelets were a little too small for me so my daughter took a few of them to school to share with her friends. I made the letter "M" in the top part of the photo using the glow gel. My daughter added some sticky putty to the back of it and put it on her bed headboard so it glows at night after she turns out the light. I will point out these are only a mere few of the things we created. We made a ton more beads and bracelets. I think next time we sit down to craft we are going to give earrings a shot too. And then I might just have to give in and get my daughter the original design station so she can make a cell phone case for her phone. Plus that one has a stand for your gel pens and tips and cool drawers that pop open to store your other parts!

Whose ready for game night?
I think I've said it before, but just in case I'll say it again...I LOVE GAME NIGHT! One of my favorite parts about having my kids home for breaks from school is that we can have multiple family game nights through out the week. Usually we get one a week on either Friday or Saturday night. It all depends on who is working, and who is staying where. Now that my son is old enough to work it seems our ritual of having a game night every weekend hasn't been happening nearly as often as it used to. So when they are home from break and don't have to go to bed early we are sure to make up for it.
Let your thoughts and creativity emerge!
My daughter is one of those kids that likes to write things down. It doesn't matter if it's a list of things she wants for her birthday, or just random thoughts on her mind she just always seems to be "taking notes". To me it's great though because she's always well organized when it comes to knowing what she wants for a gift. Plus it keeps her mind actively thinking as she's writing things down. Sometimes she randomly asks me to pick a subject so she can write down as many things as she knows about it. So to help her keep this inspiration for writing going I like to give her notebooks that are unique and a bit of fun too. Take these WAFF Notebooks for instance. They have grids all over the cover (sort of like a waffle) that you can use little letter and Emoji cubes to decorate on them. They even have a cool "lock" feature using some of the little grids that fold over the side. If you ask me they are super cool. And if you ask my daughter they are awesome. She loves that she can put her name on them one day, and the name of her favorite pet the next without even having to erase anything. She's really gotten into the little decorating cubes.

Toys that let their talents and imagination shine!
When it comes to gift giving I like to give the kids something that they can not only use, but something that will help them explore their talents. Toys like the Poppit Pop ‘n’ Display Bakery and SelfieMic are perfect for that. They allow kids to put themselves in someone else's shoes and see what it's like for themselves. With the Poppit Pop ‘n’ Display Bakery for instance they get to be creative like an artist as they make mini clay creations. And as I'm sure you've already guessed it with the SelfieMic they get to pretend they are a famous singer. This is one I can already see my daughter oohing and aahing over. She loves to sing and tells me often she's going to be a singer when she grows up.
Monday
Stick - Pull - Wow!
My daughter is a born decorator and crafter. She can take anything plain and simple and turn it into something spectacular. She just loves to make things her own by adding a little something unique to it. So when I heard about Pom Pow Wow! I knew it was made just for her. Okay so maybe not just for her, but it was made for girls like her that like to add some style to ordinary, everyday items. It's one of those things that seem so simple, yet are genius. A quick and easy way for girls to craft and create and make things uniquely their own. By using little pom pom flourishes and adhesive dots you can stick them all over things and give them some dimension, color, and uniqueness. And because they are made with little pieces of yarn they are super soft too.
Mmm... Smell the Num Noms!
Get ready for a sensory overload with Num Noms! Not only do they look totally adorable they smell just as amazing! Num Noms are food-themed characters that kids love to collect, trade, and play with for hours on end. I can say this is a fact because my daughter has them all over my house. From little ice cream cones filled with lip gloss to cute shaped and scented erasers. They are taking the toy market by storm and all the kids seem to want them. I can see why because they are so cute. I even have me a little ice cream cone sitting on my desk with super sweet smelling lip gloss inside. My daughter made it for me so my lips won't get chapped. Such a sweet kid she is to think of her mom.
The Num Noms Lip Gloss Truck and Art Cart have definitely been a hit in my house and have made their way through pretty much every room. Whether it's when my daughter's making new lip gloss flavors, stamping up papers, or playing with the cute little Num Noms you're sure to spot them.

Create, decorate, and play with Paper Punk
If you've got kiddos that like to build things with their hands, then get creative decorating them then they will definitely like Paper Punk. It's sort of like origami but much easier to figure out. Each Paper Punk set allows kids to fold and build a different animal, character, or other fun shape. And when they are done they get to decorate them with the included graffiti stickers. There's even an extra set of stickers that you can purchase for even more decorating fun! And then once their creation is built and decorated they can even play with it. The first one my daughter put together was a cute kitty. I helped her punch out the shapes to save her some time, but she did all the rest all on her own. She folded and attached each of the pieces until the entire kitten was built. Then she decorated it with the included stickers to give it some personality. I mean what kitty is complete without her crown!

Gift them a memory for a lifetime
I've always enjoyed painting...as long as there is a picture for me to use as a reference or numbers on a canvas to follow. I've just never been one to start from scratch with a blank canvas because I can't seem to choose what to paint. And I'll be honest I'm just not that creative. Thankfully there are places like Gifted Custom Art that will turn one of your personal photos into a paint-by-numbers canvas ready for you to paint at home. I was truly amazed when I saw how awesome my daughter's picture looked when it was transformed into a custom wrapped canvas. They were able to take everything out of the background and just focus the photo on my daughter which really was impressive. I had planned on painting it myself after it arrived, but when she saw me pull it out I could tell by the look on her face that she wanted to "paint herself". So I put it away and told her I just didn't have the extra time right now to paint it and am going to give it to her for Christmas as a surprise gift and let her paint it. I'm sure it will make her day and it will make mine when I get to hang up the picture that she painted.

Click - Click - Znap! Creative fun begins with @znapeez
My daughter loves to craft, build and create things with her hands. She also loves to wear the things she creates so she can show them off at school. Sometimes it's hard to do both depending on what she's creating things with. That's why I was so excited when I learned about Znapeez. Not only can she be creative and craft anything she likes, she can even make things she can use and take to school with her. Plus they are so new there's a good chance her friends won't have them at home so she will get to really show off her skills.

What's New for Fall at Magic Cabin?
Do you like to stay up with what's new as the season's change like I do? I know I always get excited with seasonal changes because that means my favorite shopping places will have new catalogs with their latest products. I have just always thought it was fun to see what they have new that might make a great gift or addition to my home decor. At Magic Cabin they have a whole bunch of fun new products for the fall season. We're talking about almost 100 new items all in one place. I of course hopped right on their website and checked them all out with my daughter. And after some browsing around found us a few things we just couldn't live without. Okay so maybe we could, but we didn't want to because they were super cool!

Lux Blox - What will you build?
My kids have always been the creative type. They like to build things with their hands and like to make their own creations. Yes they do like models and following patterns sometimes, but they also like to be able to just see what they can come up with on their own. With Lux Blox you have that option. You can build what your mind leads you to build one piece at a time and see what masterpiece you come up with. Or you can check out the Lux Blox website for instructional videos that show you how to build everything from a simple cube all the way up to a dinosaur. I personally like a little be of direction when it comes to building, I have just never had a big amount of self creativity from scratch. My kiddos on the other hand can take a pile of craft sticks and build an entire fort just from thoughts. Lux Blox are great for them because the possibilities are endless, and the more sets they have the larger the creation they can build.
About:
Blending creativity, spatial literacy and architectural principles, Lux Blox is revolutionizing educational play with bendable .
Lux Blox's snap and lock hinge system allows kids to create structures that curve, bend, flex, twist, turn and move while retaining strength and stability. Now builders and innovators of all ages can use Lux Blox to model machines, biological organisms, architecture --- or whatever structures they can imagine!
This is why Lux has such an extraordinary ability to make strong structures which imitate nature - it’s a hinged block that permits bending and folding, and you can develop strength through the principle of corrugation. Engineers use this principle when making airplanes, rockets, cardboard, and most products that require strength and lightness.

IDO3D is taking creativity to a new level!
My kids are the kind that like to build and create things with their hands. And they are also both very creative so they enjoy activities where they have the ability to express themselves too. With IDO3D Vertical they have the ability to do just that. My daughter is one that likes to do things on her own so I've been sitting back and watching her working with the 3D pen and trying to figure out how it all works. So far she's only done 3D art that's simple and small, but I know before long she will get enough confidence to create larger creations too. As a mom I love toys like this where my kids can fully express their creativity and make things from their own imagination. It shows them it's okay to be different and because they aren't following a pattern they can't "do it wrong" and feel like they messed up.

Is there anything more universal than Duck Tape?
I'll be the first to admit I'm not always the most crafty or creative amongst my group of friends. Yes I can think of fun things to do, but I am not the best at coming up with things to create without at least a little inspiration. Thankfully there are books and websites full of ideas out there to help me along because I have a 10-year old daughter that LOVES to craft.

Learning to draw in 3D #Samto3dDrawingPen
My son has been begging me to get him a 3D Drawing Pen for awhile now. He kept telling me how cool they are and all the things he could draw with it if he had one. So when I finally got my hands on one to review he was the first to try it out. And as you can see from the photo it wasn't quite as easy to use as he thought it would be. First he brought me the house he made. I said to him "That's not 3D, you're supposed to draw in 3D". So he went back to his little corner of the garage and kept at it. Finally after about half an hour he came back up with a little cube he had made. I think he quickly figured out it's not something you can just take out of the box and create extravagant creations to start with. This is something that's going to take some patience and practice to get that good. He did finally admit to me that it wasn't as easy as it looked. I'm glad he learned something from it, and I'm also glad he didn't give up when he had trouble.
The Samto 3D Stereoscopic Printing Pen Package includes as follow:
• Blue 3D Printing Pen
• 110-240V USA Power Adapter
• 3x 1.75mm ABS Filament with different colors, 10 gram per loop
• Operation instruction booklet
• Microfiber Cleaning Cloths
Buy it: You can purchase the same 3D Drawing Pen that I got on Amazon.
