When I first heard someone talking about intermittent fasting I thought they were nuts. Like there was no way I would ever be able to go that many hours without eating. I would starve to death! Okay so I wouldn't really starve, but I had my body trained to eat as soon as I got up every morning and that's not something you can easily just ditch. I did want to learn more though so I was really excited when my advance copy of Intermittent Fasting Basics arrived. Since then I've read through the book (some parts more than once) and learned alot more about the whole process. Not only did I learn about it, I actually started following practices from the book...and guess what? I haven't starved to death yet!


This book has it all. From a general overview of intermittent fasting to reasons people fast, how to get started, and even some tips and recipes to help you along the way. I love the simple format because at no time did I ever get overwhelmed while reading it like with some informational books. Each section is dedicated to one topic at a time allowing you to read at your own pace and not feel like you're getting in too deep to take a break, or on information overload. Since reading this book I've been able to eliminate breakfast all together and consume my first meal of the day normally between 12-1 PM. It also made me become more conscious of my late evening snacking and helped me to taper it off too with my last snack being consumed no later than 7-8 PM. Once I have a few good weeks of practice under my belt I'm going to start working on the foods I'm consuming during my "eating window". When incorporating new ways of healthy eating it's always best to take it slow so you don't overwhelm yourself and give up. Yes it does take some time and dedication, but just like myself YOU CAN DO IT!
