We've had our sweet bunny Buster (short for Buster Brown) for around two years now. And he's become a part of our family just the same as our other pets. And for me that means he deserves special treats just like the rest of them get from time to time. Yes we give him fresh grass and clover several times a week during the months it's growing, but I like to do something a little extra too just to show him we love him. His most recent treat was a Timothy Carrot from Chewy.com. It provides him with mental stimulation, aids in digestion, and helps keep his teeth trim. Plus I'm guessing it's quite tasty because within no time he had the part that allowed me to hang it chewed off and gone.

When I can I try to provide Buster with fresh fruits and nuts too, but when they aren't in season I don't buy them as often. So I like to keep a bag containing a Fruit & Nut mixture on hand so I can provide him with those too. Giving rabbits small rewards/treats help keep them connected to us. It's kind of like with kids when you give them candy they keep coming back for more.

Above all else it's important that just like us animals of all sizes like (and deserve) treats. I think sometimes it's easy to buy treats for pets like a dog or a cat and forget about the smaller animals like rabbits, gerbils and hamsters.
