Seattle Sutton’s Healthy Eating to the rescue!

I'm not going to sit here and lie to you, I will be 100% honest when I say eating healthy is HARD. I'm sure for some it's a way of life they've always lived so they will disagree, but for us average folks it's not that easy. If you've been following me long you know I've participated in a Nutrisystem program and did very well while I was on it. However like many after the meals stopped coming and I slowly stopped following my previous routine of eating right and exercising the weight all came back - and then some. So here I am two years later trying to find my way back to that healthier and leaner me. I knew from my previous journey that eating right is the foundation of losing weight and feeling better. And just at the right time I was given the opportunity to try out some meals from Seattle Sutton’s Healthy Eating.

About Seattle Sutton’s Healthy Eating (SSHE):
SSHE is a family-owned, Illinois-based freshly prepared meal company recognized for its dedication to convenient, healthy eating. Since 1985 SSHE has taken the guesswork out of portion control and calorie counting by offering complete, freshly prepared 1,200 and 2,000-calorie (per day) traditional meal plans, plus a 1,500-calorie vegetarian plan.

The weekly plan consists of three meals per day or 21 meals per week. Meals are available for pick up at select retail locations or via UPS delivery nationwide.

Now just look at those meals! I sure wish I could take credit for the one on the right, it looks as good as it tasted. These were two of my meals from the SSHE shipment I received. I opted to get the first half of menu A which included four days of breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals. They pack the foods while they are fresh and deliver them via next-day delivery so they are still fresh when you receive them. Not like the frozen dinners at the store that really who knows how long they've been packed and frozen. They all arrived in a nice big cooler under some ice packs so there was no worry they would thaw during delivery. Each meal is individually packaged so there's no guess work about what parts go together either! You place them right into your refrigerator and then they are ready to start enjoying the next day. I did share a few of my meals with my husband so he could give me his thoughts on them. Plus he kept eye-balling a few of the meals in particular so how could I not share. I'm a big fan of chicken, and of Alfredo sauce so it was really not a surprise to me that I loved their chicken Alfredo meal. I would actually say it had to be my favorite of them all. And it helped me to think of a better alternative instead of using pasta noodles to use rice with our meals. Pasta has always been a big downfall for me so any ideas of ways to replace it is super helpful. To be honest I think the rice was even better, and my daughter that is not a fan of wild rice actually ate a few bites of this meal and said she liked it too. I guess it's all about preparation and flavor combinations. I will say a few of the meals weren't my favorite, but after adding some spices of my own I was able to make them more my style.

I really enjoyed trying out the meals from SSHE and got some great ideas from them on ways I can make small changes in my lifestyle to eat better. Their meals are available for 1,200 and 2,000 calorie diets as well as a 1,500 calorie vegetarian diet. That means you're serving sizes are exactly what they should be - not how we tend to "think" they should be. That's really one of our biggest downfalls is overeating. With a program like SSHE you don't have to worry about that. And I can honestly say if we were at a place in our lives where finances allowed I would definitely be using a service like this for our meals. We are all busy with our jobs, families, and everything else that goes on in our lives and having your meals ready to eat would definitely reduce the burden that mealtime can sometimes bring. With SSHE you can even do a half week meal delivery for those times when you know you won't need seven full days of meals.
