Its that time of year again when it starts getting
dark earlier and we change our clocks back from Daylight Savings Time.

International Association of Fire Chiefs, and fire departments
nationwide join forces for the Change Your Clock Change Your Battery
program to raise awareness of the importance of working smoke alarms and
carbon monoxide detectors. This is the 26th year for the annual program
and the message is still an important one.

I'm one of those people that can't seem to remember anything unless it's on a calendar and sounding bells and whistles on my phone to remind me. Thankfully I've been participating in this promotion for the last few DST dates so I had an extra reminder (and battery) to change our smoke detectors. I mean really who thinks about something that's rarely ever used. Well...that is unless your cooking in my house. It seems like someone is always spilling something on the bottom of the oven and it's causing our hallway smoke detector to activate. Yes it may be a bit annoying, but it reminds and reassures me that it's there and in working order in case there is ever a real fire. I'm definitely grateful to companies like Energizer that take such great pride in helping keep our families safe with programs and incentives like these.
