I've been using Essential Oils for almost a year now thanks to my best friend Becky. She first started using them with her son and had wonderful results. After witnessing it first hand I decided I had to check them out for myself. Over the past several months I have personally used several different oils for various needs. I'm going to share a few of them with you now.
Lemon: I used this oil (as shown in the photo above) to remove the adhesive that was on my incisions from a surgery I had in February. Before getting the tip from Becky I had been scrubbing and scrubbing with soap and a wash cloth and getting no where. With just a little lemon oil on a cotton swab I was able to quickly and easily clean it all off.
Respiratory Blend: I have used a respiratory blend on several occasions when I've been having trouble with breathing. I just rub a few drops on my chest then inhale what's on my hands and in short time I'm able to breath easier.
Soothing Blend: This happens to be one of my favorites. Soothing blend is great for aches, and sore muscles.
Tension Blend: Another of my favorites is the Tension Blend. This blend is used help relieve tension and discomfort.
I could truly go on and on about all of the different oils I've used and how they've worked for me and my family. But for now I will leave you with the information above. If you have questions or want to know more please leave a comment on this post with your question and Becky or myself will answer them for you.
Entry Method: Giveaway has ended and winner has been confirmed.
I just started using essential oils. I have a diffuser ,violet, and coriander oils. I need to build up my oils, I'm on a very limited income. I know I need something for sinus, What do you recommend to get started and is there a list of what essential oil is used for?
ReplyDeleteHere is a link to a great resource to what others have tried. http://everythingessential.me/sinus-infection/

What is the best oil combo for toothaches (Laura DeLuca)
ReplyDeletedoTERRA suggests using Clove. You can read about it here: http://www.doterraeveryday.com/which-essential-oil-might-help-with-a-toothache/
DeleteWhen you put essential oils on your skin, do you always use a carrier oil with it?
ReplyDeleteNancy
allibrary (at) aol (dot) com
No, not always it depends on the oils and if it is a hot oil. There are certain oils like Oragano that you need a carrier oil.
DeleteCan I use the Peppermint and Lemon essential oils in cooking?
ReplyDeletejanetfaye (at) gmail (dot) com
DeleteYes with dÅTERRA essential oils you can use them in cooking
How do you know what to use a carrier oil with? Is there some you don't have to combine with a carrier oil?
ReplyDeleteThere are hot oils and you always want to use a carrier oil like fractionated coconut oil. With Doterra on my web site it tells you which ones are hot oils. Also with babies and small children or people that have sensitive skin I always recommend the fractionated coconut oil.
DeleteWhich essential oils help with sleep?
ReplyDeleteI know that Lavender works for most people. CederWood on the bottom of your feet works well also
DeleteI have personally had success using the CederWood oil on the bottom of my feet at bed time. Before that I had struggled with not sleeping through the night a lot.
DeleteAt what age can we use essential oils on kids?
ReplyDeleteYou can use Doterra essential oils on babies. You should use a carrier oil when you use them on babies and young children as they have sensitive skin. I would also say to put it on the bottom of their feet because you don't want them to get it I their eyes
DeleteAny idea which oils are best for pets? I only have been using Lavender around them because I know that's safe...but I assume they'd like varying scents as I do! Lol! xD
ReplyDeleteWe use all different oils around our pets, and have not had any trouble. I have a spray bottle that has lavender, geranium, roman chamomile, and ylang ylang. We use that on our dog for itching (he does not have flees ). There are ones you can use for flees also

ReplyDeleteFractionated coconut oil is the same as regular, except it has went through a process to keep it from going back into solid form. The only real benefit that I know of is if you are mixing it with oils in a roller bottle.
Deletewhat is myrr used for
ReplyDeleteHere are some suggestions from doTERRA:
Delete• Add 1–2 drops to toothpaste for added cleansing benefits and to promote oral health.
• Diffuse to help promote awareness and uplift your mood.
• Add to your lotion/moisturizer to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
• Add 1–2 drops to ¼ cup of water with a little agave or honey to help stomach aches.

ReplyDeletedoTERRA suggests using Clove. You can read about it here: http://www.doterraeveryday.com/which-essential-oil-might-help-with-a-toothache/
DeleteWhat is the best combo for a bug spray? jj250@aol.com
ReplyDeletedoTERRA actually has an oil blend called TerraShield that's perfect for combating bugs. You can read all about it here: http://www.do-essential-oils.com/oil-uses-benefits/products/terrashield-repellent-blend
DeleteHow good are these for fibro
ReplyDeleteWe have seen some great things with the Deep Blue Rub. In addition to the Aroma touch.
DeleteWhat is the best carrier oil for diffusing?
ReplyDeleteYou do not need a carrier oil when diffusing. Just water and we recommend 4-5 drops of the oils
DeleteDo I need to have a specific diffuser to use?
ReplyDeleteNo, you just need to be careful using citrus oils in a diffuser that has a lot of plastic inside it. Citrus oils over time will break down plastic.
DeleteWhat do you recommend for ezcema on kids?

Is there a possibility I could be alllergic to essential oils? (seriously, it seems like EVERYTHING is giving me a reaction these days)
ReplyDeleteWhat I have read about this is that you can have a sensitivity to oils. Which from what I understand you need to use a carrier oil with them. I have also read that you may be trying to use to much of the oil. You should use smaller amounts more often if that is the case. If you still have questions or problems you can email me at r.holladay1@comcast.net put essential oils in the subject line
DeleteI've had most of my questions answered just by reading through the comments. lol I would like to know in someone with a sensitivity to citrus, what would be a good blend of oils to treat acne? Thanks for all the useful info!
ReplyDeleteI have had great success as well as a couple of my friends with the Doterra HD Clear for acne. Any time I feel a trouble spot coming on I just roll some on it for a day or two and it goes away.
DeleteI'm curious about diffusers. I've heard how great they are but I don't know how to start. Good recipes? Good diffuser?
ReplyDeleteI have several different diffusers that I use. On that it is personal preference as to what you want it to do and how long you want it to stay on. There are lots and lots of great recipes for diffusers, but we like to use Doterra On Guard in our house to help us stay health through the flu months. We also are a big fan of Doterra Wild Orange it smells great and seems to make everyone feel happier. I would be happy to send you some of the recipes that I have for diffusers if you want. Just email me at r.holladay1@comcast.net put essential oils in the subject line.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the quick reply. I would love some recipes. I appreciate you sharing!
DeleteIs there a difference between doTerra and other essential oil brands? It seems like there are so many out there to choose from now days.
ReplyDeleteYes there is a difference. doTERRA wanted to create a purity level that goes above and beyond organic. So they created an internal standard called Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade that is verified by 3rd party testing laboratories. They test their oils 7 different ways to make sure that they are pure and safe for therapeutic use. They source their oils all over the world. They go to where the plant or tree grows naturally. The biggest difference is that Doterra is about quality not quantity. If the oils is not to the best quality Doterra will not use it.
DeleteIf you want to know more about their testing and quality guarantee you can check it all out here: http://www.do-essential-oils.com/team/certified-pure-therapeutic-grade
Deleteare there any books you recommend with a comprehensive list of uses of different oils?
ReplyDeleteI would recommend the Modern Essential Book. It has all the oils listed in it. Where they come from, their properties, how to use them and where to apply them. It is a great resource to have. The new one is edition 6 and it is $28 plus tax and shipping or I have a couple of the 5 th editions left that I am selling for $20 plus shipping. If you are interested in either of these just email me at r.holladay1@comcast.net put essential oils in the subject line. Thanks
DeleteI love essential oils! Great giveaway. Thank you for the awesome giveaway!
ReplyDeleteThank you! What is your favorite essential oil?
DeleteI have cat and they can be harmed by certain essential oils or all?
ReplyDeleteHi Robin,
DeleteI have three cats in my house and haven't had any issues with them when using my oils both through my diffusers and on myself. I've even had my cat lick my forehead after I applied oil to it and it didn't do anything to her. I'm not saying that all oils are safe for them, just from my experiences I've not had any issues. I've read a few blogs where people have shared about using them directly on pets, so some can even be beneficial to them.
I have never used essential oils but have heard amazing things all around about it. In your opinion for starting out what is your favorite and why? Is there one you have found the most use for above others? Thank you.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion anyone just starting out I recommend that they start with the lemon, lavender, and peppermint. These 3 oils are very versatile and are great for everyday use. We use Fankensence the most at our house. It's the first oil that we used with my son and we love it. If I don't know what oil to use we turn to Frankensence. I also use PastTense and Deep Blue often and love the affect they have.
DeleteI have never used essential oils before; basically, are they an all natural remedy to everyday medical issues?
ReplyDeleteEssential oils are derived from the plants and trees. They are an all natural product, that we use in our everyday life. In no way are they intended to replace anything that people need from their doctor.
ReplyDeleteAre they safe around birds?
ReplyDeleteI have a couple of friends that have birds. They both use the oils on themselves (not on the birds) the birds do not seem to have any problems being around the oils.
DeleteCan essential oils be dangerous? Can you "O.D." on them? I know it sounds silly, but I wonder if you can use too much.
ReplyDeleteThis is not a silly question at all. Essential oils are safe, you can not O.D. on them. You should use small amounts more often, but you can use them as often as you need.
DeleteI have anxiety disorder and high blood pressure. What oils would you recommend?
ReplyDeleteMarsha, here is a good source of information on high blood pressure: http://everythingessential.me/hypertension-high-blood-pressure/
DeleteAn here is one on anxiiety

What is peppermint good for?
ReplyDeleteBesides those already listed in the photo above here are some other great uses:
Delete• Use a drop of Peppermint with Lemon in water for a healthy, refreshing mouth rinse.
• Rub on the stomach or take internally for occasional digestive discomfort.
• Add a drop of Peppermint to a Shake for a yummy twist.
• Rather than grabbing an unhealthy snack midafternoon, re-energize by applying Peppermint to the palms of hands and deeply inhaling.
Peppermint has lots of uses. The one thing that people need to know with it also is that it is one that on an babies and anyone with sensitive skin you want to use a carrier oil.
DeleteWhat is the best carrier oil for moisturizing?
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion the best carrier oil is the fractionated coconut oil. I would think that it is good as a moisturizer too. I however use the moisturizer from doTERRA that is a great product.
DeleteDoes peppermint oil really keep rodents away
ReplyDeleteI have read people using it for that in their kitchen drawers, but have not tried it myself to testify if it works. You can read about it and other oils to use for insects here: http://everythingessential.me/insect-repellant/
DeleteDoes peppermint oil really keep rodents away
ReplyDeleteAre there any EO that help with spring allergies?
ReplyDeleteI'm actually using a blend of Lemon/Peppermint/Lavender in a roller bottle that's working well (You can read about it here: http://www.do-essential-oils.com/oil-uses-benefits/do-it-yourself/allergy-relief). doTERRA also offers a TriEase capsule too that I use.
