When my daughter was just a few years old my husband started a tradition with her of reading The Night Before Christmas with her every year on Christmas Eve. As she has gotten older she of course wants to help and has begun reading pages of the story to him. It's always been something that's special just between the two of them and I have politely declined when my husband asked if I wanted to read the story with her. I know it's something she looks forward to and so does he. I just feel like they need that special bonding time together. However this year a new tradition will be made as we are adding a new book. When I brought home Once Upon A Northpole Christmas and showed it to my daughter she immediately began asking if she could read the book to me. She loves to read so I was already betting on how quickly this would happen. So we sat down and she began to read me the story. Once we were done she turned and looked up at me and said "Hey mom, this could be OUR story for Christmas Eve." I was so excited because that meant I was going to have my own Christmas tradition with her too, and it didn't take away from the one she already had with her dad.
Our story book also came with a really cute Find me Santa Snowflake that my daughter also immediately latched onto. She couldn't wait to personalize it with her name in the middle and was already talking about where she was going to hang it for Christmas. We live on a dead end driveway in the country and there are no street lights near our house so it's pretty dark out here at night. Surely Santa won't have any trouble finding us with this special snowflake lighting up our front window for him.
You can check it out in this video to see just how cool the snowflake looks as it glows and changes colors too!
Last year we had a lot of snow, and it felt like the snow stayed forever. It was super cold so it took a long time to melt. It was nice to look at, but with the temperatures so low it made it hard to get outside with the kids and try to enjoy it. I don't know about you, but when it snows I want to make a snowman and have snowball fights. Just get out there and enjoy it while it's around.
Well this year if it decides to be sub-zero when it snows again we'll be prepared with our Magic Snowballs. I picked up one for each of us so we can have ourselves a safe indoor snowball fight. And since these are Magic Snowballs they light up when you toss them. Even our new kitten Simone decided the snowballs might be fun to play with. Looks like fun for the whole family!
And if the Magic Snowballs don't provide enough entertainment surely our new Avalauncher with "snowballs" will. We've decided to hold off on enjoying this one until a little closer to the holidays so we don't use up all of our new fun in one weekend. I'm sure the cats will enjoy running after the snowballs as the kids shoot them out across the room too. They are all the time trying to find ways to keep the kitty's entertained and running around. They are part of the family after-all.
You can find the gifts I purchased and more from the Northpole collection by Hallmark at your local Walmart.
I need to get my boys the snow ball launcher, as we dont get enough snow here to make snow balls. We have the same tradition of reading the Night Before Christmas too.
