My Take:
I was a bit skeptical about the Sodastream Genesis home soda maker
when I first saw it on the internet and in some local stores. First
off I thought the price was a bit high, and it sounded too good to be
true. But after having one in my home and using it for some time now I actually do like
it, I would even say I like it a lot. It's not just another eyesore on
my kitchen counter, it really only takes up a small space in the
corner. I keep it out because it's just more convenient than putting
it away between uses. To be honest you actually with some of the flavors I can't
even tell the difference between Sodastream and name brands. I keep two of the
reusable bottles of Sodastream pretty much always going in the
refrigerator. When one runs out the rule is fill it back up with water
and place it back in the refrigerator (you need chilled water to make
the sodas). Then when I see that it's empty I pull out the Genesis machine and make a new flavor. Yes the initial investment may seem a bit high,
but once you figure out how much you are already spending on sodas and
flavored beverages you'll see that this is so worth it. Plus you can get
refills at many of your local stores
you probably already shop at. For around $4.99 you get a bottle of
Sodastream SodaMix flavoring which is equal to 12 liters of beverage.
That's right around 82¢ per 2-liter. And think of all the 2-liter
bottles you won't have filling up your refrigerator space, plus the
convenience of having it on hand and ready to go at a moments notice.
This is great not just for at home, but for those that have limited kitchen space like students away at college or someone just starting out in a smaller apartment. The other great part is since you're making smaller bottles it doesn't have the time to go flat like a 2-liter can sometimes do when not being consumed quick enough.

You can purchase the Genesis machine (as well as others and supplies) on the Sodastream website. And there is even a video of how it works if you have questions on that!
