Great Gifts for Moms & Dads

When it comes to gift giving for Mother's & Father's Day sometimes that perfect gift is hard to find. I mean lets be honest most moms and dads have all of the basic everyday necessities. And the older our parents are the more "extras" they've picked up through the years leaving us with the task of having to try even harder to find that special gift. So I've come to you today with some unique ideas that are perfect for moms and dads that are sure to please!

I know, I know. You're already thinking what's so unique about giving mom/dad a vacuum as a gift? Well give me a moment and I will tell you. This isn't just your ordinary cordless vacuum. It's the Dyson V7 Car+Boat vacuum and it's rated "The Best Cordless Hand Vacuum" from Hammacher Schlemmer.  As both a multi-car and boat owner I think it's pretty stinking awesome. This thing actually has really good suction power AND it comes with extra tools specifically crafted for those hard to reach places a standard vacuum doesn't have. I for one am in love with this thing and all of the various attachments that came with it. Now I can finally clean out my car without having to play acrobat trying to reach everywhere. Every mom's dream come true. ❤

The Best Cordless Hand Vacuum earned The Best rating from the Hammacher Schlemmer Institute because of its superior cleaning ability, rapid recharging, long battery life, and ease of use. It suctioned one cup of cereal off a tile floor in 17.19 seconds and off of carpet in 18.66 seconds, 65% faster than inferior models. Unlike lesser units that required 204 minutes to charge and only ran for 10 minutes, the Best model had the shortest charge time at 169 minutes and the longest run time at 32 minutes. The Best unit was also ranked as one of the easiest models to use due to its simple operation, easy-to-empty bin, and various attachments for tackling different jobs. Includes car charger, extension hose, dusting brush, dirt brush, crevice tool, and washable filter.

If dad (or even mom) likes to get outdoors and enjoy hunting or other outdoor sports then a pair of Motorola Talkabout T265 two-way radios might just be the perfect gift. This set of radios was specifically designed for hunters and serious outdoorsmen (or women).  They feature 2 push-to-talk earbuds with microphone, reliable two-way communications, up to a 25-mile range, hands-free capability, NOAA weather channels, 20 call tones and dual power. The T265 also comes equipped with 2 Micro-USB wall charging cables and a handy camo carry case, making them easy to pack for the next outdoor expedition. Two-way radios provide peace-of-mind in the great outdoors by allowing you to stay connected and hear important weather alerts when out of cell phone range. When it comes to the great outdoors in our house we always say "you can never be too prepared". And that's the truth. Never rely on your cellphone as the only means of communication, especially when way out in the woods where you're not likely to run into someone else that can offer help.

Speaking of trekking in the woods check out these awesome shoes I found on the Lugz website. The Dot.com 2.0 is an oxford sneaker with a super chunky sole that makes it great for the outdoors. It comes in both men's and women's sizes so you could get mom and dad matching shoes! And to top it off it even comes in a "woodland" color (shown above).

The boots on the right are also available in both men's and women's sizes, again making it easy to get mom and dad a matching pair. The Empire Hi Boot is a classic 6" boot that's both water and slip resistant. Perfect for those soggy days in the woods. With Flexastride memory foam insoles and EVA cushion, anti-fatigure mid-soles these boots were built for the long haul.

I for one am more of a sneaker gal so I gravitated towards the Dot.com 2.0, whereas my husband likes a little more height to his so he prefers the Empire Hi Boot. Of course it also might have something to do with the fact that I like to accessorize for fashion too and the Dot.com 2.0 is a really nice looking sneaker when paired with some jeans. Not to mention they are super comfortable to wear all day long. And us moms know that's a top priority in our busy lives.

Something else I found online that looks to be really fun is this Lure Making Kit from Man Crates. If mom/dad love to fish this is a very unique gift I'm sure they've never received before but would LOVE to. I know when I showed it to my husband, whose a super active fisherman, he was totally on board with getting to try it out first hand. The Lure Making Kit comes with everything to mix and mold tantalizing, one-of-a-kind lures. Each kit comes with three exclusive injection molds to make delicious fish food shapes: crawdaddy, mudbug, and worm, as well as a pint of plastisol and individual ounces of coloring, glitter, and scent. Oh and step-by-step instructions for designing and deploying the perfect lures. I have to admit I'm not a huge fan of fishing but even this has me a little bit excited. Once we check it out I will be sharing a full review so be on the look out for that too!

Be sure to check out the Father's Day sale for 20% off when you order $150 or more of product.

The three shelf utility cart from Tubster is a great idea for any mom or dad that would enjoy a little extra convenience when moving things around. My husband actually snagged up the one we got for the garage. He's using one shelf for his motorcycle supplies, one for boat supplies, and the top area he's using as a work station. It's perfect because he can roll the cart filled with all the necessities right out to the boat to work on it and not have to run back and forth between the boat and garage. It's heavy duty and very sturdy so there's no worries about overloading either with it's 400lb weight capacity. This would be great gift for parents that are teachers too for moving those heavy classroom supplies around. Heck they're even great for storage because you can easily move them side to side to access things that might be stored behind the cart too.

If mom/dad enjoys gourmet grilled or smoked foods they are sure to love gifts from Texas Irons. They have everything from personalized steak branding irons (their signature product) to grilling tools and BBQ gift sets. I was really excited to find their All Natural Wood Pellets Set because we just got a new wood pellet stove to cook on. We got a nice assortment of pellets including: mesquite, mulberry, orange, pecan and apple flavorings. Each bag contains enough pellets for 10 uses. Now that's a lot of food to be smoked with tasty flavor! They are even resealable so you don't have to worry about the pellets spilling while they are stored between uses either.

With AmazingClubs.com you can choose the perfect subscription box to fit mom/dads personal interests. They have 40 different club boxes to choose from making it super easy to pick one out that they would enjoy. Whether it's beer, wine, coffee, fruit, hot sauce, or your own custom combination there's a gift for everyone. Heck if you don't want to choose just one you can even sign them up for the Variety Club where you can combine any of the 40 gourmet clubs into a personalized gift that keeps on giving. Prices vary depending on what you choose to send each month, but you can create a custom 3 month subscription box for about $60 + Free Shipping + a Free Gift Announcement. Now that's a gift any mom or dad would be excited to receive.

We received their Coffee Club box and their Hot Sauce Club box and my husband and I were pretty happy with both. He was excited to try out some new flavor combinations of hot sauce he had never seen before, and I was happy to have that hot brewed cup of Joe on the cool mornings we've had lately. If you ask me there's nothing better than getting a gift that allows you to enjoy something you love and try something new at the same time!

Speaking of subscriptions boxes and getting to try new things. Something super fun to try are subscription boxes from the Japan Crate line. There are five different crates to choose from and each one is available with a one to twelve month subscription. We received their Premium Japan Crate of candy and snacks and Doki Doki Crate of kawaii items. Both were super fun to explore in their own unique ways. The candy and snack crate comes with a guide that walks you through each piece of food included in the box giving you the name of it in English as well as full description of what it is. It was really quite interesting to read through to see what each one was exactly since it was near impossible to tell by looking at some of the packages alone. Of course a few were familiar and can be found here in the US like Pringles. The only big difference was the flavor was a lot different. Theirs was jalapeno and onion which I've never seen here before. The Doki Doki Crate was packed with fun kawaii lifestyle goods straight from Japan. This kawaii crate brings you adorable Japanese characters alongside traditional Japanese homeware and fun toys. If you love Harajuku & Japanese kawaii culture, the Doki Doki crate is for you.

Know someone that's going to be a new mom? Whether it's their first or fifth child every mom deserves a little extra pampering after she has a baby. That's why Bosley created the New Mom Hair Recovery Kit (Available at Ulta.com). During pregnancy, many women notice that hair is thicker and less stressed. However after the baby comes, new moms often experience hair shedding. That’s why Bosley put together this special kit to help new mom’s transition back to their best hair.

The kit includes BosDefense Nourishing Shampoo, which cleanses and removes buildup and debris from the hair and scalp. BosDefense Volumizing Conditioner, which infuses weightless body and shine while adding thickness and volume. Healthy Hair Follicle Energizer, which helps protect and repair follicles in areas of low density. The kit also includes these bonus items: hot/cold gel Therapy Mask and a sample pack of the Ultra Boost Styling Crème, which is enhanced with nutrients and antioxidants to deliver texture while boosting volume. For more information visit bosleypro.com.

Of course she doesn't have to be a new mom to need a little pampering. So how about making mom a basket of all of her shower-time favorites. Grab a cute basket, add a fun bath towel or robe, some new scents from the Dial Body Wash line and a bath sponge to finish it off and you're all set! I'm one of those moms that always loves trying out new scents of body wash and lotions. So I can definitely say it would make me smile to get a basket filled with these new scents from Dial!

And while you're at it why not craft a "Man Basket" for dad. Fill it with products from the #1 men's fragrance brand in the world and you're gift will be a hit! Especially when you include the new Axe Ice Chill & Fresco scents. One of my favorite things about Axe is that they always have new lines coming out. And I can honestly say I've never been disappointed either. Of course I'm more of a "sniffer" than a user, but my husband and son will testify that they enjoy being on the user end. I love how my husband always smells fresh when he uses Axe products. And when he pairs their body wash and shampoo in the shower with antiperspirant and body spray after the shower the scent lingers all day long! So I guess this would be a gift that makes both dad...and mom happy!
