Make it a stay-at-home movie night this Valentine's Day!

Looking for an idea for your sweetie this upcoming Valentine's Day? Maybe something a little different from the norm? I know I was originally planning to put together a fun basket for my husband when I got an off the wall idea. I decided to "make over" his chair in place of using a basket. It was super easy to do, and I won't be left with another wicker basket collecting dust when everything has been used. I actually already gave him his gift this past weekend because he was under the weather with a chest and sinus cold and I thought he could use some cheering up. Plus we already have his schedule and knew he would be working 12 hours on Valentine's Day. So we took the opportunity to celebrate early while we had the chance.

So what do you need to create this awesome chair turned stay-at-home movie night Valentine's Day experience you might ask?

First off I covered his chair with a New England Patriots blanket (his favorite NFL team since he's from New Hampshire).  Made a really neat backdrop if I do say so myself. I also gave him a matching Patriots hand warmer (which he actually had his hands in during the movie because his hands kept getting cold). My husband does a lot of outdoor activities so this was going to come in handy later for sure.

Next I gathered a few snacks to go along with the movie I had tucked in the middle of the pile (something I already had at home we got for Christmas but hadn't watched yet). I got him some Justin's dark chocolate peanut butter cups (because he loves dark chocolate) and Toasted Coconut Drizzlecorn from Popcorn, Indiana (because he loves coconut). I mean honestly what's a movie without chocolate and popcorn?

Finally something fun that says "I love you" in a unique way that I knew would make him smile. This cute little monkey actually sings, dances, and his heart lights up. Kind of quirky but it made my husband smile which is all that mattered to me.

After being married for 17 years we've pretty much done all of the standard Valentine's Day stuff. And to be honest some years we just skip it all together. With kids we tend to be focused on them and their school parties instead. So having a little bit of fun and getting creative is definitely a switch up for us this year. I'm glad I took the time out to do it too because he was really appreciative of his "Valentine's Day Chair".
