I learned a long time ago not to go cheap when it comes to a water bottle. Too many soaked lunch bags and backpacks in our past from cutting corners. As I'm sure you know many lunch bags come with a water bottle, but I can honestly say none of them have passed the leak-proof test. We usually try them out a time or two and then end up tossing them out because they leak if they aren't kept upright. And keeping a water bottle upright in a backpack while you're kid is on the bus is pretty much out of the question. So we've slowly been converting to water bottles we know we can trust not to leak. AVEX water bottles are a great choice because they have a cross-bolt lock that prevents the AUTOSEAL® button from accidentally being pushed during transport and storage. I actually really like the push button option for drinking vs. the pull up spout. This way I know as soon as I let go the bottle is shut and won't leak out. I don't know how many times I thought I had the top pushed down on water bottles only to find out otherwise when they accidentally got knocked over.
